Norvell interviews for Iowa State job

I think (and this has been said a gazillion times) that Norvell would be serving his own interests better by sticking around at NU another year. We're going to have an unstoppable offense next season, and think how good he will look to be the offensive coordinator behind such a force.

If Norvell does get it, Watson will get promoted to OC and we will be shopping for a new QB coach
This is a huge reason why Watson agreed to come aboard as 'only' the Tight Ends coach. Not sure if Rich Gannon would make a great coach, but a wiley veteran that wasn't necessarily blessed with the most ability but maximized it may be able to pass his lessons in learning on. He really took off when Callahan and Gruden started working with him.

I dunno. I'm kinda worried about losing Norvell just because he knows our system so well. And I heard too many bad things about Watson to think Cally won't bring someone else in. Let's just go for broke and get someone better. I'd rather not lose him just because the WCO is finally starting to take off, and he will be in the same division.

if he goes he goes, just cut ties as soon as possible so he is not out recruiting players for ISUcks while trying o help prepare a game plan for a confrence championship or bowl game

Exactly because he won't be into it 100% IMO and we need to be focused to get accomplished what we know our team can do and that's winning against sCUm, Big XII Championship, and the Fiesta Bowl. I'm confident that we can do this and I just got on hornfans.com to see what they are saying and there is a thread that is talking about the Big XII Championship and they are basically already writing us down as a W in their column and they think they are going to the Fiesta Bowl!!!! Let's surprise 'em!!!! :box

Well from what some of the ISU boards are saying the general consensus is they don't want him!!!! They don't think he will do any better than McCarney did................I think that is inaccurate.........

I think it will take whomever they get a little while to improve. They are not deep in tradition and it will be difficult at best to get top recruits to go there. He would do ok if they gave him enough time to get it done, but those days are gone. Fix it now or you are history is the play of the day. With the price of tickets and what is on the line, you cant really blame them.

To think they could find someone who can do better than Mac? What are they expecting. This is ISU. Anyway, Norvell would look at this job as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Whether he is successful or not successful, I wouldn't expect him to coach there for very long. Only Mac was content on staying there. It would be very difficult to find someone good who would see himself coaching at ISU in 10 years.
