note to ESPN

I thought that Texas would win although I was hoping and praying that USC would stomp all over them. Growing up in Texas my whole life i've had to deal with these Longhorn fans forever. As much as you guys are tired of hearing about USC on ESPN it's even worse hearing about Texas in the local media down here. The Dallas Morning News said today that Texas is now 4-time national champion, with one of them being in 1970. I think we all know that's BS. Oh, and that comment Corso made last night about Young being the greatest college QB ever?? :rollin

ESPN sucks !!!!!!

They will not admit they were worng on this whoele USC garbage... Good for Texas for shutting these guys up !!!! The way Young "ran" all over them, just think what Tommie and Lawrence would have done..... Herbstreit may want to rethink that prediction...

As for USC and Texas, they are BY FAR the two best teams in America.... what a game !!!!

I sure hope that LenDale White, some of the O-line, and a few of the def players dart for the draft..... If not, I would be very concerned with NU's trip to Cally next year... AND, if Young stays, "ouch !!!"

I bleed Husker red more than any other fan, but I also see reality.... Both of these teams are FAR more superior than NU right now..... if not many underclassmen leave, I really think we will be overmatched in these 2 games.... still expect a very good season and Big 12 north title....

I am still amazed at Young.... One of the best single game performances of all time... a lot like Frazier in the NC game vs Florida.... YOung is a stud !!!!!

now 2005 texas is the best football team ever to graze the football field. We should be thanking ESPN and ABC and disney for gracing us with their presence. :sarcasm

Anyone here read that Skip Bayless article on Page 2 the day before the game? Did nothing but bad-mouth Texas and the Big 12. Kept calling us the Little 12. It was just sickening, I hope he chokes to death on that crow.

On the flip side, Woody called the game 31-28 Texas, so he's still good.

Ya know, I certainly bought into the Big 12-is-down BS, who wouldn't after the regular season! but after the Bowls, it certainly looked like the teams, North and South, weren't so bad afterall.

once again, poor ESPN. at least they have the OSU and PSU wins to make them feel happy about something.

no question they are #1 and 2 respectively but i don't know about "by far". this is a USC team that needed luck and then some to beat a Notre Dame team that was (surprise!) maybe a little overrated. They also barely beat Fresno State. enough said.

All I had to do to get through all this Little 12 crap was to look at how many Big 12 teams didn't go to bowls; only 4 missed out.

The media covered the game WONDERFULLY! Interview #1 after the game: USC head coach Pete Carroll. Interview #2 after the game: USC QB Matt Leinert.

Wait....wait.....who won again?????

Freakin' idiots!

and this type of coverage just "feeds" the USC program and recruits love it.......it is biased without a doubt, but Calif. is the worlds stage, Hollywood, the whole smear...we should not be surprised......they will always have this advantage.......

The Rose Bowl was one of the best NC games ever played, but the following are my thoughts on the hype -

The Trojan fans have a ego as big as Hollywood.

The Longhorn fans have a ego that is bigger than Texas.

The media tried to make USC seem like supermen and Texas as "almost supermen".

If you get past the media idiots and self-serving fans, I suspect both football teams have players that are more or less human and probably downright likeable. Two interesting insights into USC happened after the game - Pete Carroll waited about 10 minutes in the middle of the field to congradulate Mack Brown and shake his hand. Mack was so busy celebrating that he forgot to walk out and meet the opposing coach.

I also heard that Reggie Bush and Matt Lienart went to the Texas dressing room after the game to congradulate the winners.

That shows me that USC has a lot more class than you would ever expect or guess!

Final thought - Don't ever feel sad for Texas getting the short end of the media publicity stick. They always think they are the Greatest Team regardless of what the world thinks or what reality is.

Anyone else notice Lienarts comment after the game about USC being the better team on the field that night or something to that effect. My jaw dropped when I heard him say that.

I agree with all of that except Matt Leinert having class. That whole "we're the better team" bull was just terrible. Why'd we even play the game Matt? We all know you're the better team. :sarcasm

Yeah that made me laugh he was just upset that his team just got beat by basically Vince Young and his running ability. Also I was really rooting for the Longhorns to win because I was tired of hearing about USC as well. Now that Texas has won congratulations but come next year YOU WILL DIE!!! GBR!!! :hookerhorns :power

Well...I chalk some of it on emotions. The press is the first one try and catch a kid saying something wrong his entire college career. 2 minutes after the game was over they come running and interview him. If he turns them down they butcher him, the minute he does comment they go on a feeding frenzy. I am giving the kid some slack. He is what....22? Meh....He is young and I expect that from any kid who just lost one of the most important games in his career to date.

He's not a dumb kid, he knew what he was saying. His coach and teamates conceded the loss, he could to. Sorry, I'm not going to bash his talent--he's what? 37-2 in his career?--but as far as I'm concerned he's got some character issues and I plain don't like him.
