Notes from practice

Every thread this week seems to end up here..... sh#t can Coz..........

I am staying neutral on this but I do have an opinion. I am reserving it til season end.

Things will work themselves out one way or another.

Ball st cant get here fast enough because this sh#t is getting really old.

Extra padding

The subject of Nebraska practicing in full pads this week continued on Wednesday.

Bowman, you'll recall, did not wear his Blackshirt on Tuesday. Nobody followed his lead on Wednesday; all others were wearing Blackshirts.
You did not inlcude the entire article from the link you posted. Apparently the players AND the coaches are not on the same page. Or else nobody approved of Bowman's gesture. So lame...

What's interesting was Callahan's response to Bowman's move. When asked about what Bowman did, this is all Callahan would say:

“That’s his statement. You’d have to ask him. I can’t speak for him.”

That is f'ing weak.

I read that and it sort of raised an eyebrow. Not quite sure how to take Callahan's comment on that. It's almost as if Callahan wanted to say "so what...big deal". Would have been nice if he would have said something like "I think it's great." or "Bowman is showing strong leadership." or "I hope the rest of the guys take note." or "It's about time someone mans-up on this defense."

Definitely-- not even saying that THIS thing in particular is demonstrating his leadership-- just say something like, "Bowman is a strong leader and a good player; I'm sure he thought about this a lot and made the decision that felt right to him."

I wonder if BC and Coz see this as a bit of public undermining of their authority. It's a way to come out and say "our defense sucks" without saying it directly.

Callahan and Cosgrove are coaching their fourth season at NU. They still have no clue what it means to be a Husker. They claim they respect the great tradition NU has produced, but all their talk is just crap oozing from their mouths. Unfortunately I don't see this ending any time soon.

Yes, they will look like a top notch team Sat. vs. Ball St., they will beat Mizzou, then will drop off again. Great coaches? I think not!

'Blackshirts' are a joke right now...they should all be fighting like hell just to start, let alone have a 'Blackshirt'.

That said, I don't think there is a lack of talent on defense...so Cosgrove, why don't you just put an 'Interim' in front of your title, thanks.

I'm not a coach. I just play one on TV.
Craig T. Nelson, is that you?
