I'm predicting that ND will be the last to join the Big Ten. More dominoes need to fall in order to get them.

ND doesn't want to join the Big (X + n) and become "just another midwestern university", they like being able to play games coast to coast in areas of recruiting and alumni, they have done the calculations and as of now they believe not joining will make them more money and the only way they join the Big (X + n) is if Texas does too.

If it comes to 4 conferences and ND isnt in one, they will wither away. There will no longer be rankings because they no longer matter with a playoff. None of the schools involved with the 4 conferences will need to play an upright ooc foe. If people think ooc schedules are soft now, wait till we have 4 super conferences.

True, but if winning the conference is all that matters, scheduling tough opponents wouldn't kill a teams chances for a national championship. A team risks injury with any game played, why not let it be one that could be a gage for how well top teams stack up early in the season?

Why go through anymore of a grueling schedule than need be? Also, if super conferences emerge I dont see there being more than 1-2 "pre-season" games the rest will be played in conference. In this scenerio there really isnt a reason to see how well top teams stack up untill the end of the season, thats why the NFL doesnt have a top 25.

because team's want to gain confidence of 18-22 year old kids against lesser competition first. Why get blown out early on when you could be improving yourself as a team against a lesser opponent. I dont foresee the teams involved in the 64 playing eachother ooc, the 64 teams will be lining up 1-AA opponents and those teams that were left out of the 64 teams during this formation. There really is no reason to play a more grueling schedule than your conference schedule will already impose. Sure lining up USC ooc and then playing Mich/ND/Penn St/tOSU all in one season would be great for fans, but if you want to win a NC its unrealistic to make it through that sched plus the playoff agianst Florida/Miami. Or whoever wins the SEC/ACC

I think there would still be 1-2 games to warm up. We certainly wont be seeing the 3-4 that teams get now.

It depends on how the conferences are set up. If there are four four-team divisions, you could play everyone in your division every year, then one division and half of another every year, giving you nine in-conference games. That would allow for three OOC games, and you would play everyone in your conference a minimum of twice in four years.

Contrary to what some in the Big 10 obviously believe, and what ND for sure believes, the world does not hinge on ND football. If they give ND what ever they want, we are right back to what we are in with Texas. No thank you.

Those in power in the Big 10 need to see that they are the ones holding the cards, if they go ahead and expand WITHOUT Notre Damn, and the SEC expands along with the PAC 10, Notre Damn will be scrambling to get in somewhere, because they will not be included if it does come down to 4 major conferences and a playoff situation.

Ohio State........Michigan.........Iowa......Penn State.......Wisconsin.......Michigan State......Nebraska.........Notre Dame........

Talk about a Meat Grinder!! If this happens, the conference could potentially get 2-3 BCS berths each year. It would be raining money. Winner of this conference would almost be guaranteed a spot in the BCS title game.............unless of course we all beat each other up and the winner has 3 losses.
