Losing to CU really hurt and not sweeping Texas Tech dropped us in every poll. National Average is #6

Other Big 12 teams.......Texas #4 , Baylor #12 , Mizz #20, and Creighton #30

I read a possible matchup for a 1st round regional would have us hosting Illinois, Arkansas and Creighton! That may be a tougher ticket than NU-OU!

Controversy aside, NU rallies to win

Going, going … not gone.

Clearly, that was how the 6,593 in Haymarket Park viewed Josh Dent's questionable three-run, fourth-inning homer that gave Kansas State a 4-3 lead against Nebraska Friday night.

Fortunately for home plate umpire Bob Homolka — who set off what would become a continual chorus of boos with his ruling of Dent's shot, which landed in foul territory just beyond left field — the difference in opinion didn't matter.

The fifth-ranked Huskers scratched back with two runs in the sixth and got clutch relief efforts from Ryan Bohanan and Brian Duensing to post a 5-4 victory.

The result, combined with two others in league play, guaranteed Nebraska no worse than second place in the regular season and left it mathematically alive for a piece of the championship. To share it, though, the Huskers will need to beat the Wildcats today and Sunday, while Baylor, which beat Missouri 7-5 Friday, would have to lose to the Tigers both days.

Huskers Rally for 5-4 Win over KSU

Lincoln – Jeff Christy’s sixth-inning sacrifice fly broke a 4-all deadlock, as fifth-ranked Nebraska rallied for a 5-4 victory over Kansas State Friday evening in front of a crowd of 6,593 at Hawks Field.

Nebraska’s win, coupled with Missouri’s loss to Baylor and Texas A&M’s extra-inning win over Texas, assures that Nebraska can finish no worse than second in the Big 12 race. NU now needs to sweep Kansas State and hope that Missouri takes the final two games of the season to force a tie in the Big 12 standing.

Nebraska relied on a complete game three-hitter by junior Zach Kroenke to wrap up the series sweep with a 3-1 victory over Kansas State Sunday at Hawks Field.

Kroenke's gem, combined with a 10-4 victory by Missouri over Baylor, gave the Huskers a share of the Big 12 Championship and the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament.
