NU vs MU Gameday

What Missouri ran today is not the option. the ran option plays a couple of times and we usually stopped them. I've never seen 5 wides in the option but I saw that a lot today from Missouri.
A dual threat QB is not the option. Although a dual threat QB is a great thing to have in the Big 12 and College football in general.
Mizzou ran quite a few plays that NU had success with when we were good: 5 wr's-qb draw (Frost-Frazier), shovel pass, and during MUs 97 yd TD drive, they ran 3-4 sprint options plays that picked up 7-11 yards per play.
Those were also teams NOT coached by Frankie boy!
So, it still worked, didnt it :dumdum

Who cares who coached it??
It's no use trying to argue against a person that is stuck in the past!

Looks like "the past" (option football) came back to bite us in the a$$ today, hmmm?

What option beat us? Oh that's right the QB keeper. Hmm where exactly is the option in that? :dumdum

Come on former if you think the offense mizzou was running was anything close to what TO ran you are kidding yourself. When did TO ever run an empty backfield with 5 wide? If Smith would of been under center with an I formation then I would agree with you. Frankie offense was the problem not the one with Tommie or Frost.

Again, it was not the SAME OFFENSE NU ran, but they did run SOME PLAYS that NU used during that period (the ones previously mentioned).

One specific play: 96 Fiesta Bowl, about halfway through the 3rd qtr, Frazier had either a 30 or 35 yd td run (it was the last td before his 75 yarder :thumbs ). Watch it on tape, LP lined in the backfield, and went to a slot, Frazier qb draw up the middle. (I cant remember if it was a shotgun, or under center.)

Frankie offense was the problem not the one with Tommie or Frost.
In 02 and 03 it was, agreed. But up until 02, it worked pretty well, did it not??

That would be the spread option offense, smart guy :sarcasm

Like I said, it included a few sprint options, shovel passes (essentially inverted option plays), and yes, qb draws, keepers, and rollouts are part of option football, as there are times when the qb has the OPTION to pass or run. TO used them for years :dumdum

Im pretty much through with you. You dont have the basic intellect to understand simple offensive philosophies, or that being embarrassed is not okay. :dumdum

Just go bury your head

Ah if you mean talking down to people acting like a know it all who's football knowlege is "hollier then thou". Yeah your right I don't know but from your posting you sure think you do!

Brad Smith makes that offense exceptional because of his ability as a runner. He is also a great decision maker. I noticed a few times he would break past the line and tuck the ball like he was going to run to draw the safety or LB to come up to tackle him and he would stop short of the line of scrimmage and throw to the receiver once the safety or LB made his break towards Smith. The guy is good. That offense is pretty fun to watch, and I think if NU had a qb like that running this offense, it would definitely add a new dimension to the offense. Brad Smith just looked calm and under control the whole game. Hats off to him, had they left Daniel in there, I believe the game would have turned out quite a bit different than it did. Glad NU doesn't ever have to face him again!

Because the coach is held responsible for bringing the right players in to run the plays. That's why it matters.

Lets all please remember that we are all Husker fans - and shouldnt let someone else on a message board get our blood boiling. Thats what the Holidays are for.

If you cant continue posting without directing anger at someone else, please do one of the following:

setting aside all the anger and thought that we lost to missouri bad again...I must say, WOW what a throw and catch from Taylor to Peterson for a TD once again, that was amazing...pass caught in stride on his fingertips.

I agree. So why was Frank dedhoarse brought into it??

The plays worked, and worked well, back in NUs "golden years" and today for Mizzou, even though many insist that the option is dead in college football.

Yeah, that was an amazing CATCH. Again, glimpses of the future that get shadowed by the scoreboard.

Go Huskers! :thumbs
