Except for the pesky fact that neither was competitive for many of those years....If geographic proximity were the main criteria for a rivalry, K-State and KU would've been our rivals in the Big 8/Big 12.
The sports world is riddled with big rivalries where one dominates the win column for a time.We have not beaten Iowa since 2014 in an overtime game. It has been five straight losses since then with two of those losses being a beat down. So, the real question here is whether Iowa considers us a rival and not vice versa. We have a lot of excellent football to play to make up for the last two decades of free falling into oblivion. Let us hope this year is the start.

Seriously, who give a s#!t who our rivalry is? Let's just get our team in order, then maybe we can worry about it.
But, but, but....the Wolverines went 10-2-1 between 1988 and 2000. I keep having to recall ancient history to feel better.Just ask Michigan Wolverine fans. :dunno
Ohio State has won every game but one since 2004 against Michigan, but it's considered the best rivalry out there (that's still around--Nebraska/Oklahoma was bigger).
