Obsessed?

Perhaps this hasn't been emphasized enough....Bill Callahan....

BILL CALLAHAN

The worst coach we've had in 40 years by far.

So the argument about Nebraska's recent struggles is getting tired. You want to hear about our 5 National Titles? The crap days are behind us so you can talk about the past but our past blows yours out of the water. You've had some recent success. Congratulations. But don't come on the Husker board expecting us to be impressed. It may seem arrogant but we've seen better.

Iowa isn't relevant in football
Because of cocky attitudes like this given the fact that Iowa has been relevant more recently than Nebraska.

Alright, bitches, I'll bite, wanna play? Lets see aaahh you all come from a weaker conf., your qb, just plain has no experience. You always ran CB's for LB's and......

Seriously are you all really trolling for a troll??? Come on most B10 fans know alot about each other. If you all cant get down with that, I guess I have been in the wrong place, all this time. If you want to talk Iowa football, do that. Otherwise you are doing nothing, but injecting that "Nebraska spirit", into an other wise, STUPID THREAD. So lighten up, be part of the conf, and enjoy. If you are so much of a rabid fan that you cant look around, well then I have to wonder how you are able to type a post.

Thing is, that obsession seems to go both ways with a few Husker fans. We've just joined a conference that already has three of the top seven all-time winningest football teams, yet I see five times more threads about Iowa than about Ohio State, Michigan and/or Penn State combined.

There's a small section of Husker fans, notably those who live either in Iowa itself or along the Nebraska/Iowa border, for whom hating on Iowa is an obsession. For the most part, those of us who live outside those areas don't care. All this focus on Iowa is mind-boggling, especially when we're in a division with Michigan. And yet nobody wants to talk about Michigan.
Because we've listened to years of "smack" from Iowa. It's an Obsession that stems from wanting to pound their program into the ground like the missouri/iowa state/kansas/kansas state/colorado we know they really are.
Just curious. When was the last time missouri/iowa state/kansas/kansas state/colorado won their conference or went to a BCS game? For that matter, when was the last time that Nebraska won the conference or went to a BCS game?

I will grant you the fact that the last BCS game you went to was indeed the MNC game, but come on - you didn't even win your division that year.
go back through the BCS history (1998) ksu, kansas, cu, and DoNU have all played in BCS games, fwiw.

On a side note, I find it funny when another fanbase likes to tell Nebraska fans that ' its not the 90's anymore, you'll never ever have that success again, lol!'

No shift, neither will you. But at least we HAVE had that success in the past, unlike your team.

Also, most Husker fans really don't and haven't cared about iowa football, I've never rubbed a loss in a hawk fans face. We simply have never cared, unless we played. But I can't say the same about Iowa fans. Back in 2004 when we missed a bowl for the first time in my life, 2 hawk fans I worked with were yukking it up, talking all sorts of trash. The weren't talking hawk football, they were talking Husker ball.

I think Iowa fans see this as good opportunity. I don't blame them. I gotta tell you, I think they are going to THRASH us this first year. AND no matter what happens, it will be a hard fought game to the end. Because of this, I think it will be as good of a rivalry as CU or OU has been in the past. I love my huskers, I'll root for 'em until my heart goes, but Iowa is better than alot of us are giving them credit for. You watch, they will have a dominant defense and an average but adequate offense. I know my grammer / sentence structure in this post is 'lacking' but I've got to pee and can't...
They can certainly beat us, there's no question. But "thrash" us? Good lord, where do you come up with that?
Maybe he meant they are going to THRESH us
That's funny - my father-in-law pronounces "threshing" as "TRASHING" and it drives me crazy.

I always thought they were the same word..Thrashing. I just assumed someone mispelled it here.

Like I said you have to look at the B10 as a bunch of old guys sitting on the porch in a town where it's same same, then all the sudden a new family moves into town.
I think you're missing the point of most of the posts here. If Iowa fans were suddenly talking about Nebraska because of their addition to the Big 10, that would make sense, and I doubt this topic would exist. The fact is, Iowa fans have always badmouthed Nebraska. When it's coming from a team we've played more than 4 times in 30 years (Colorado, Missouri, Kansas State) at least there's a good foundation for the animosity.

Sorry, if they did that. Only time I have ever given a %$#$ about nebraska, was if we played, when we wanted to get a game between us, and now that you are B10. There was a big push in Iowa for several years to get Nebraska sheduled, I dont think the schools ever even discussed it, but regardless alot of fans felt like we were being ducked. Missery did it to us. Now we have to pay over a mill just to get some non con games. Again if anyone was an azz for no reason, sorry. I cant speak for anyone else but myself.

Colorado won the conference in 2001, KSU won it in 2003, Kansas won their BCS bowl in 2007, while Missouri won the north division twice in the last 4 years and has become a consistent top 25 program.

The Big 12 was not an easy conference - with Nebraska in it, it was tougher than the Big Ten. The Big 12 has 3 teams in the top ten this year, while the Big Ten has 2 in the top 15, and one of them is Nebraska. As tough as this year's schedule looks, it's not going to be much tougher than last year when we played Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Missouri, and Texas A&M.

You're not going to have any more 3-way ties for conference champion in the Big Ten (in the last 10 years, the Big Ten has had 16 conference champions. If the Big 12 determined champions the same way the Big Ten did, Nebraska would have as many conference championships as Iowa in the past 10 years). The Big 12 had multiple national title contenders knocked out of contention because of a game that the Big Ten didn't have to play (the conference championship - Nebraska was knocked out in 1996, Kansas State in 1998, Texas in 2001, and Oklahoma in 2003).

I hate the Big 12 as much as any Husker fan, but that conference had a lot of good football teams in it, and since its formation it has won more national championships than any other conference except for the SEC. I get tired of hearing about how Nebraska doesn't know what it's in for now that it's in the "tough, phycial, superior Big Ten." The Big 12 was a crappy conference that played outstanding football and had just as many 800+ win programs as the pre-Nebraska Big Ten did.

I love hearing it. Gets me more excited to watch the games actually played. Hopefully it gets the players riled up too.

Funniest thing I have read on this board in ages!!!!! :laughpound :LOLtartar :laughpound :LOLtartar :laughpound

Hell, I almost threw ya a +1 for making me laugh so hard.

TO be honest the only "ducking" or deaf ear to the matter of scheduling a home/home came from east of the Missouri. Has NU been ducking Iowa since this????

Pretty sure that is a negative ghost rider.

Bingo! I think it's hilarious they have to back up their talk now.

You are going by pre-season polls? How cute. Missery was beat by Iowa running 3,4, and 5 deep in spots. Give me a break, They were ducking us for years, and finally we got to show them what it's like to play with the big boys. Even if we were that deep. Nice part was we got to see who's next in line.

Yeah like KF's second year here. Oh how the tables have turned huh? We wanted you guys for 5 or 6 years now. Pry about the time KF was playing with all the kids he recruited.

Who cares about KF's kids. The fact is that NU has been open to a series with Iowa and since these last two beat downs the feelings have not been as mutual from the Hawkeye administration. Face the only time in the last 20 years Iowa may have even considered talking to NU about a home/home with NU was during NU's "darkages", which as many a poster has pointed out is on par with Iowa's "glory era".

Iowa fas can chirp all they want about this, the fact remains the folk in Iowa City have shot down this chance for a while.
