Offense Looking Pathatic

Walk-on
Ok it's halftime and Nebraska is getting embarrassed and regional television by VT, the defense is looking good, but WTH is going with the offense. VT defense is not that good, but they sure are looking good right now. I'm praying that they can turn it around in the second half.

unfortunately we have no leaders on the offensive side of the ball. Guys are out of position and everyone is looking to the other guy to make a play. It sucks but VT came to play and we....well.....I'm not sure what we were thinking.

one thing that is obvious on offense is that our WR cannot get any separation. this has been the problem whenever we go up against physical DBs..it has got to change..we need the smaller speedy WR to complement those big WRs..never have been a big fan of those big WRs other than jump ball situiation but than again how often do you get to throw a ball up for grabs..point is we need smaller speedy guys to provide that deepthreat. i also thought play calling was very vanilla on offense. no miss direction or reverse. you can tell Joe wasn't comfortable in the pocket..they should of roll him out more to get away from the pass rush. hopefully we can get quicker faster WRs.

Well, guys, this was a real defense that we were facing tonight. Big. Fast. Athletic. Talented. Confident. There is going to be a lot of teams in the ACC look a lot worse than we did.

Our offensive line is a group of pass blocking specialists brought in by Callahan for the prissy West Coast Offense. They have got to learn a whole new game, one where you have to be more of a man than the guy across from you, not just get in his way.

Maybe Slauson should quit trying to act like John Randall, quit putting that goofy crap on his face (sure intimidated them tonight, huh?), and knock somebody on their a$$.

We need to use Lucky and Helu on the field together and start to spread some people out. Ganz to option more also...he is not very good in the pocket. Swift and Peterson are nice possession guys but we need speed theats at WR. Our offense has no identity. I do like that we are using the TE more as I have been calling for that for years. We need to run block better as that looks like a weak spot. We need to establish the run against Mizzou, T Tech, and OU or we are going to be in for ugly games. The defense will only be able to hold down teams like this for so long if at all.

The good thing is that there were Top 25 teams abound getting beat today by "lesser" teams....like I said, anyone can beat anyone with the new parity that is the NCAA.

I don't think Ganz played well at all today. In fact it was really poor play.

An INT

An obvious Penalty flag when he threw the ball after he scrambled 3 yards pass the line of scrimmage

The bubble screen duck nugget to Niles Paul that was so wobbly it was a lateral & cost them a loss of yards.

Missing a wide open Teafatiller

Blocked pass at the line of scrimmage

Indecisiveness when he dropped back every time

It was just ugly. Hopefully he got it out of his system and will play lights out next week.

The O-line still hasnt impressed me that much this year.

Swift, Petersen, McNeil, and even Holt made some plays out there. Helu had a great TD run. Lucky had great hands to catch that bullet pass from Ganz and took up field for good yardage. Lucky also threw a great block picking up the blitz.

Playcalling looked predictable.

Today the offense played below average. And that's not good enough. Give some of that credit to the Hokies defense.

Well this was probably the best defense Ganz as gone up against, wouldn't you say? You can make an argument for Kansas last year, but i'm a little skeptical about saying they were the best he's seen.

I think it is obvious Ganz put up inflated numbers against bad defenses since he's been playing. This defense had 2 or 3 NFL prospects on it and it is the best he has faced. Better than KU last year. I was never one to annoint Ganz for Heisman and I certainly am not now. He makes bad decisions when he has time and he makes worse decisions when he's under pressure, and unfortunately he was under pressure alot because of Nebraska pathetic O-line. VT did not even blitz until the 3rd quarter.
