Offensive Line - A Work in Progress

So, how did we end up with better offenses in the B1G, playing better defenses, than we had in the Big 12 that didn't play defenses? Was it the crappy recruiting, lack of player development, piss poor S&C, horrible playcalling, or bad coaching? I'm amazed our team could even get off the bus...

Since everything under Bo sucked, and we've improved in every area with the new guys, I expect with all the improvements of the new staff that we'll put up 40+ PPG and 10+ wins this year.

Ah, the joys of spring ball under a new regime...
The wins became much less impressive, and the number of losses stayed exactly the same, and the specifics of those losses became much MUCH worse. So what different does it really make? And from an overall statistical standpoint, sure, the offenses "got better". But analyze what happened in those losses, and even in some of the close wins against decent competition, and you'll see that even the offense wasnt exactly night and day better than that that we fielded in the Big12 days.

3 years under Bo in the Big 12 and 4 in the big 10. Seems forgotten how decent the 2008 offense was and how great and explosive the 2010 offense for a lot of the time simply due to Bo's best team (2009) being so inept offensively. What happened in 2009 was not an overall tell tale of the offense in the Big12 days. And the 2008 and '10 offenses were just as explosive AND inconsistent as anything Tim Beck has directed in the last 4 years. 2011's offense became pretty stale an average mid to late season. 2012's offense was so dame inconsistent with mistakes and such and diggin ourselves holes week after week, only to cover it up with second half flurries. 2013 went to complete crap midseason when the injuries hit. And 2014 was meh when it was needed most.

I'm being serious. I may have critiqued Taylor a bit but he was a hell of an upgrade over Zac Lee. He's also responsible for a lot of offense during those years.

He was a 2013 recruit which means he basically came in that weight and dropped 50 lbs since he got here.

Oh that horrible past staff.

Can we please get over this myth that the past staff let our o line be too fat? Linemen are fat. They always have been and always will be.
He was 300 as SR in HS, and 295 to 305 on the Husker roster. When did he put the extra wright on?

I don't agree that linemen always have been and always will be fat. When I was in college, I knew several of the OL. I wouldn't describe Aaron Graham as fat. Adam Treu wasn't exactly fat either. Both Jon and Rob Zatechka were neither fat either. Sure, there were some that were a little pudgy around the middle like Adam Taylor. However, most were just big fit men.

You tell me. This tweet says he was 350 in 2013. The same yeR he came into the program.

I watch recruiting and could not remember getting anyone quite that big, so I did a little digging. It had to be the summer before or his freshman year in our program.

Is this any indication of depth chart (so far), or not necessarily listed in order?

I'd say that's generally the depth chart based on what I've seen. But it's a little tough to tell with the split squad practices.

scarey list, lots of unknowns......and no proven running back, just concerns me.
