Offensive Play Discussion - 2020

That's because it's good insight, and we are super obsessive as Husker fans.  Is there any other way? :)

I'm hoping to rewatch the game tonight. Did anybody else notice that we ran some really shifty, new ways to spring open the short passes into the flats with different formations & fakes last night?

We went over 400 yards only twice this year. NW and Rutgers. In those 2 games we have 1060 yards but only 31 points. That’s incredible.

@BigRedBuster I would say the problem is more the athletes not involved in the screen. Screen passes are a lot harder to defend (and hence more likely to be successful) when you've got a legit deep threat that defenders have to respect.

Completely 100% agree.  Again, it's not the calling or using of the play.  It's the team around the play that's not making it effective.  There are so many factors that go into it.

This reminds me of watching the Huskers go against Miami and FSU in bowl games in the 80s.  Our option didn't work.  It sucked.  It didn't produce the expected results.  So, did TO suck because he was calling an option play?  No.  When in the mid 90s we got the athletes to run it effectively (and everyone else on the team) it worked awesome.

Other teams run screen passes with great success.  We can too as long as the team is has the right players and executes it the way it should be.
