Pekin, IL -- Back in 2004, Police Officer Greg Heiken got an award from the Illinois Department of Transportation for making the most DUI arrests in his county.
It's a very different story now, as Heiken, 37, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in a crash that left 10 people hurt.
Investigators said the 13-year veteran of the police force was behind the wheel of a truck that rear-ended an SUV in central Illinois. That led to a chain-reaction pileup. Two people had to be pulled out of their cars, but none of the injuries is said to be life-threatening.

According to court papers, Heiken admitted he'd been drinking but refused a blood-alcohol test. It was done against his will because people were hurt, but the results aren't known.
He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Heiken is free on bond. If convicted, he could lose his job and spend up to three years in prison.
