Would it help all the other conferences if Miss St won out and Ole Miss beat Auburn this weekend? That would put Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Georgia (SEC Champ Game) each with 2+ losses, right?

Is it possible for the SEC to completely knock itself out?
Possible, but not likely. A two-loss SEC champ will almost assuredly still be in.

But Miss St. losing to Alabama & Ole Miss, Miss losing to Auburn, Alabama losing to Auburn, Auburn losing to Georgia and Georgia losing the SEC championship game would put them all with two losses, so it's not all that far-fetched.

If Georgia loses a game in the regular season then wins the SEC championship game, it would be interesting. That would mean a relatively-low-ranked Georgia team with two losses would be the SEC champ and would be tough for even a potentially one-loss team that didn't win the West to make that jump.

If Miss St wins out, beating Georgia in the SEC Championship, then

Georgia would be at 11-2 or 10-3 depending on if they beat Auburn in a few weeks (I don't see them losing to UF, UK, Charlston Southern, or Ga Tech.)

Ole Miss would be at 10-2 or 9-3 depending on whether they beat Auburn this week (I don't see them losing to Presbyterian or Arkansas).

Alabama would be at 10-2 or 9-3 depending on whether they beat Auburn at the end of the year (Might get upset by LSU as well [maybe])

Auburn would be at best 11-1 or could go all the way to 7-5 (Last 5 games are Ole Miss, A&M, Georgia, Samford [W], and Alabama)

Or even one step crazier - a five-way tie in the West

Let's go with the scenario that Glenn Guilbeau of the Shreveport (La.) Times laid out in today's edition.

Here is what he wrote.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (now 4-0 in SEC) beats Arkansas on Saturday, loses at Alabama on Nov. 15, beats Vanderbilt on Nov. 22 and loses at Ole Miss on Nov. 29. … 6-2.

AUBURN (now 3-1 in SEC) wins at Ole Miss on Saturday, beats Texas A&M on Nov. 8, wins at Georgia on Nov. 15 and loses at Alabama on Nov. 29. … 6-2.

OLE MISS (now 4-1 in SEC) loses to Auburn on Saturday, wins at Arkansas on Nov. 22 and beats Mississippi State on Nov. 29. … 6-2.

ALABAMA (now 4-1 in SEC) loses at LSU on Nov. 8, beats Mississippi State on Nov. 15 and beats Auburn on Nov. 29.

LSU (now 3-2 in SEC) beats Alabama on Nov. 8, wins at Arkansas on Nov. 15 and wins at Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night. … 6-2.

Nothing too terribly crazy about all of that happening, is there?

If this scenario takes place, fans of these teams need to pull for their opponents from the SEC East to win as many conference games as possible.

Here's the tie-breaker scenario we would be looking at using the official language...

G. Best cumulative Conference winning percentage of non-divisional opponents (Note: If two teams' non-divisional opponents have the same cumulative record, then the two-team tiebreaker procedures apply. If four teams are tied, and three teams' non-divisional opponents have the same cumulative record, the three-team tiebreaker procedures will be used beginning with 2.A.);

Right now, it would appear to favor Auburn, which plays Georgia and defeated South Carolina last weekend from the SEC East. Here are the current cumulative conference records of the SEC East opponents for the five potential co-champions, which includes the SEC East teams you need to become a fan of in the coming weeks just in case the apocalyptic scenario takes place.

Auburn- (Georgia and South Carolina)- 6-5
LSU- (Kentucky and Florida)- 4-6
Alabama- (Florida and Tennessee)- 2-7
Mississsippi State- (Vanderbilt and Kentucky)- 2-8
Ole Miss- (Vanderbilt and Tennessee)- 0-9
