***Official 2024 College Football Thread***

One of the best games this year.  Now that we snacked them around a bit I  can enjoy the chaos.  Really fun game. 

 
That Colorado Baylor ending was wild!  
 

And BYU is kicking Kansas State’s arse at the moment.  We’ll see what the purple kitties are made of. 

 
ACC pumping up some points last weekend

North Carolina lost 70-50

Clemson won 59-35

PIttsburgh won 73-17

SMU won 66-42

Miami,Fla won 50-15

Duke won 45-17

Virginia won 43-25

Florida State won 14-9

Ten years ago, Thursday night games always felt like South Carolina was playing North Carolina, or Georgia Tech, or Mississippi State or Oklahoma State.  Sprinkle in some West Virginia or Tennessee.....  Thursday night games used to be a pretty good billing for some hard hitting football with close game nail biters.    

 
I really hate it when announcers buy too much into the hype of a player. I almost wish they would try to know a bit less about a player so they don't get obnoxious about it.

Example:

I'm watching the Miam VT game. I know Cam Ward is a frontrunner for the Heisman, but that's about it.

Miami had a 2nd and 10 and Ward just handed off to the RB who got 0 yards. Announcer goes on like a 3 sentence spiel about how Cam Ward is always taking his time and always calm and always in control. Basically blowing smoke up his a$$, but doing it after he handed the ball off, not after he made a good play. Next play he got sacked and now they have to punt. He also, on the previous drive, threw an INT into the end zone when they were in FG range.

Update: Now VT is up 21-14 after 2 failed drives in a row by Miami.

If I could, I would just have the stadium noise and the PA announcer. Most TV guys are garbage anymore. They're either just awful to listen to (see: McCoy, Colt) or they never shut up about stuff that doesn't matter (see: Olsen, Greg). 

Also: both the VT and Miami kickers hit 50+ yard field goals before half lol
