Official Big Ten logo for Football & Basketball?

Nexus

All-American
I apologize in advance if this has already been posted?

I prefer the B1G logo over the BIG TEN logo, so I'm cool with the pics below as I think it's the best version available. I also noticed that Big Ten's twitter is using the B1G logo for its avatar which makes me think this will be the main logo going forward.

I like that logo. Cool to see you back Nexus. (I also agree Legends and Leaders is horrible)

Love the new sig man

I know I'm in the minority, but I personally think the logo is garbage. I loved the old logo and if you weren't going to do anything to reference the 12 conference members, I would have just left the other one alone.

IMO, the conference tried so hard to do something different that it ended up doing something stupid. There is a reason for the way other conferences do things; it's because the alternatives blow. The Pac-12 and SEC have done the best job with logos and division names, IMO. The BIG thing is just one giant fail. Scrap the whole thing and try again.

I read a theory for this on a professional design blog. The theory was that the design firm that created the logos submitted the "B1G" logo (black "B", blue "1G" as shown on the court above) as their favorite, but the Big Ten officials thought a secondary logo should be used that actually spelled out "Ten" as to not confuse any fans. The design firm reluctantly created the second logo (blue stacked "B1G TEN"), while still hoping the conference would choose to use primarily the first.

Does anybody know if we are gonna place the B1G logo on the field or are we just gonna leave it with no logo?

I'm curious too. I guess it also depends if the Big Ten has a rule that requires every team to display the logo on their fields, courts, etc?

The logo never got to me it's a different look color is a weird choice but oh well. Legends and Leaders though, that is major facepalm.

i cannot recall seeing a big ten logo on the field at the big house, happy valley, etc. we never had a big 12 logo on the field, i see no need to do it now.

I like the logo, I just hate the color. That light blue or whatever it is has to go. Change that to black or dark blue, or something a little more solid, and get rid of "Leaders" and "Legends," and I'm happy.

We USED to have a Big XII logo on our football field. It was before we got the Multi-colored turf for the 2005 season. When we had the all green turf, and no alternating shades of dark and light turf, we had a Big XII logo. I believe it was just a "XII" on the 25 yard line or so. I always wondered why we took it off, I liked the look, even with the new Big XII logo they had with the school's name in there, I liked that too. Of course I liked our 2001 uniforms as well and the way we had our Field Turf too.

You can see the XII on the turf. The above picture is when we still had AstroTurf, but when we went to field turf, with one color, in 1999, XII was on the field.

Or even at the start of Black 41 Flash Reverse and Crouchs' catch against California in 1999, you can pause the start and see the XII in the upper-left.

Personally, I loved this look. One shade of color. The only alternating shades I like are every 10 yards, not every 5 yards, but just my opinion.

Sorry to bring up a picture with Texas in it though. :hookerhorns

agreed. the logo looks better than i thought it would. legends and leaders is embarrassing and shows a complete lack of creativity. plains and lakes is not awful, but unless it is geographical, no one will be able to associate a team to its division. i say just call it east and west even though it is not completely accurate. or call one division "m,n, and iowa" and one division "everyone else".
