Official - Callahan annouces:Blake to UNC

i dont like the rumors at all, Blake is a huge asset for us in recruiting and one hell of a coach in my opinion.

NU doesnt need to be going through any staff changes yet, we need stability for a few more years

I agree with you there. The rumors around this time of year get to be quite rediculous.
Agreed, im sick of all these rumors. This one could have some evidence but all these rumors are getting out of hand.

Both the LJS and OWH have NOTHING on Blake to UNC. You'd think they'd at least acknowledge rumors of such a development.

Until I see some concrete evidence from a trusted source I chalk it up as garbage and don't believe it.......Not worried about it right now if he does go, he goes and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Some guys have dreams of being a head coach one day and nothing will stop them from achieving that dream and I can't say that I would blame them for it........

UNC fires 3 coaches...none on defense....yet. Hopefully Blake will stay with us!!

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- New North Carolina football coach Butch Davis has fired three assistant coaches, including offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, the school announced Friday.

Assistant head coach and tight ends coach John Gutekunst and offensive line coach Mark Weber were also dismissed, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported.

Davis, who started at North Carolina on Sunday, has not yet hired any replacements or decided whether to keep the rest of former head coach John Bunting's assistants.

Cignetti was in his first year at North Carolina after helping build a powerful offense at Fresno State.

"I still feel the same way about North Carolina as the first day I got here: UNC is an unbelievable place, second to none. It's a great place to live, a great place to coach. I'm just disappointed that we didn't get enough wins to get it done," Cignetti said.

Cignetti had two years worth $400,000 left on his contract. Weber, who had also coached at Fresno State, had one year worth $150,000 left on his contract. Gutekunst had spent three seasons at North Carolina.

The Tar Heels (3-9, 2-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) finished 10th in the league in total offense, averaging 293 yards per game, and its two quarterbacks threw a league-high 18 interceptions.

Why would you want to go to UNC?

??

I think making it to a few Championship games, BCS bowls, and eventually NC games would make you a lot more valuable as a coach.

But I don't know about the coaching world in that way.

I've read on a another "FREE" message board that john blake is supposed to be heading to North Carolina. An announcement will be made this week. this doesnt come at a good time with recruiting..etc
