***Official Expert Predictions Thread: Neb vs Minn***

i still can't believe we have the 6th strongest schedule in the nation, thats why we are getting some BCS love.
That depends on who you talk to, and what metric they're using. Sagarin has our SOS at #33, which is lower than I expected before the season. The team that's just killing our SOS no matter which metric we use is Southern Miss. A team that went 12-2 last year turns in an 0-10 season thus far, a shocking failure, and they are way dragging us down. If Southern Miss had even gone 5-5 this year we'd have, by far, the #1 SOS according to the NCAA.

Did you know? Big Ten in Week 12

  • Nebraska leads the Big Ten and ranks eighth nationally with 62 plays that gained 20 yards or more. The Cornhuskers are one of three FBS teams with at least 25 passes and rushes that gained at least 20 yards (Texas A&M, Oregon are the others). Nebraska averages 7 yards on first down, the highest average in the Big Ten and 10th in the FBS.

  • Nebraska has outscored its opponents 49-14 in the fourth quarter of its five Big Ten victories. The Huskers have outscored those opponents by an average of 139-47 in the fourth quarter. The Huskers have averaged 22.4 plays in the fourth quarter of those victories, compared to just 12 plays for the opponents.

  • Minnesota leads the overall series against Nebraska 29-21-2, but the Gophers have lost 15 straight to the Cornhuskers, including a 41-14 home setback last season. The Gophers are 8-9 all-time at Memorial Stadium, and their most recent win was a 26-14 victory in 1960. Since then the Gophers have dropped six straight games at Nebraska, most recently a 56-0 drubbing in 1990.

B1G injury updates

  • Minnesota top wideout A.J. Barker (ankle) will miss his third straight game Saturday at Nebraska. The Gophers also will be without defensive tackle Roland Johnson (knee) and reserve linebacker Lamonte Edwards. Senior defensive end D.L. Wilhite, tied for the Big Ten sacks lead with 7.5, is listed as questionable on the team's injury report but also remains the starter on the depth chart. Center Jon Christenson, injured last week at Illinois, also is questionable.

  • Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead (knee) will be a game-time decision against Minnesota, coach Bo Pelini said Thursday. Burkhead, who twice has aggravated the knee in Big Ten play and has missed the past three games, tested out the knee this week in practice. Wide receiver Tim Marlowe also is a game-time decision.

I'm was thinking Minn would play us fairly close in the 1st half with us coming out with a 7 pt lead, maybe 10, but then we would tire them out and open it up more in the 2nd half. 38-10. It will be bad news for them though if Wilhite is limited. Might have to think about 45-10

Not all that worried about beating Minnesota, what does worry me is that its games like this where a freak injury can happen. Lets hope both teams come out of this game injury free.
