***Official Foster Farms Bowl Thread - UCLA***

Anybody else catch Gerry saying to someone (the official?) it was a "bullsh#t" call. If so, he handled that a lot better than I would have in his shoes. I would have gone full-bore Pelini on the ref's a$$.
I would have turned a blinds-eye if Gerry "targeted" that official

I have seen this during the NFL season this year as well. There seems to be a predetermined reluctance to overturn referee judgements, even during the most obvious mistaken calls on the field.

These "targeting" penalties are literally ruining the game of football. It MUST be addressed by both the college & pro game, otherwise we might as well strap belts to these players, and let them play flag football.
It has to. It absolutely has to. The ejection aspect is just bonkers. Maybe for repeat penalties but this stuff is way too ticky tack to be taking games away from kids. Gerry is going to miss a collective game of his college career for some very, very questionable/ridiculous calls.

Honestly, anytime there is a "hard hit" in football today, it's a penalty.
I can see the Iowa game hit way more 50/50, but this call is inexcusable. 99 times out of 100 that does not get called
I will argue all day Iowa was clean as well, BUT this one was text book. He tackled the way the NFL is actually teaching kids.......Break down, head up, check up, butt down,.....

Aside from the call being horrendous, I feel absolutely sick for Nate. Practice for an extra two weeks, make a great play, and be done, just like that. Suck, suck, Suck. Dadgummit anyway.

Total bullsh#t. Even May and Saunders were calling it a bad call.

Will see how much it hurts us in run support. Didn't go so well against Iowa after Gerry's ejection.

Agreed. I still think the Iowa call was ridiculous (dude was diving, what did you expect to happen?) but this one is insane. Truly insane. Honestly, "targeting" is what Odell Beckham did against that Panther's DB, where you run up to the dude and gratuitously spear him in the head with your helmet. Incidental contact of helmets during a genuine tackle should not be a penalty.

No doubt. On a play that wasn't even the least bit questionable.....

Football is dead. Gerry's hit was textbook. I am still in shock.
You are coming around kid.
