**** Official Hockey Thread **** (NHL & College)

And FWIW... on the NHL side, I root for Colorado, Minnesota, St. Louis, Dallas, and the Ducks... on the college side, UNO above all others, and then a couple of UNOs future conference mates... Minnesota-Duluth and North Dakotah...

Yeah, to me, one of the big mistakes the Avs made was letting Chris Drury get away. I think Drury could have been (and to me was) the heir apparent to Sakic for captain, but for some reason, the Avs didn't think they could keep him. They need to get their head back to where they can get the guys in to compete again. Hopefully, that'll be sometime in the near future.
Chuck, spot on...

Drury wasn't the same once he'd left Denver. He didn't have the skill of Sakic, but he had the cliched "intangibles". That kid knew how to win.

They've got some good young talent, Statsny, Duchene, Landeskog, and Parenteau, but they need help on the blue line and a solid goal tender...

Avs fan here but basically appreciate any good hockey game. I actually follow our local ECHL team, Colorado Eagles, probably more than the Avs. Figures Bucky would be a Red Wings fan. I really want to like them but just can't after the 90's history against my Avs. God how I miss Forsberg. Loved watching that guy play the game.

same here...

Rangers avenged their loss to Philly last night. 2-1 Looking much better now.
Yea, was a big win, and who won't show up on the score sheet was how good Hagelin played...

Good to see some hockey talk on here. I'm a Blues fan. Don't watch too much college hockey due to my location here in Missouri. Hate all things Red Wings. Excited to watch some of the new young talent that has arrived in the nhl.

College hockey helped get me through the lockout. You'll get some good games on Friday and Saturdays. If you've got any of the fox sports channels or NBC Sports through your cable provider, theres a pretty good chance you'll be able to catch a game.

Also, if you want good college hockey coverage, I suggest USCHO.com (us college hockey online)

Now they just have finish up the week by defeating the Pengiuns.

I sure hope so...

After the Pens performance last night, shouldn't be a problem

Yeah, what the hell was that?
I don't have a real in-depth knowledge of hockey. I understand the basics and I'm starting to understand strategy and things like that a little more (at least I think I am), but last night just looked like a lack of effort. Nobody was going after the puck with any sense of urgency, except the Islanders. Turnovers and laziness/lack of effort.

If you keep watching, Doc Emerick is awesome and gives a good breakdown while the game is going on...

I think he was calling the game last night. He kept commenting on the Pens playing very business like and how they showed no emotion. Even after Bylsma called a timeout and was trying to instill some life into them, they still just skated around all lackadaisical
