Defense really stepped up their game. Their coverage, especially the safety help over the top has been key.
Offense takes too long to figure out that they need to run power football. But once they do...look out. Nice run by Heard at the end of the quarter.
I really do believe the gloves are effecting Taylor's game today. Everything from zone-reads at the mesh point, to toss sweeps, and his passing game. That tacky substance on those gloves delays just for a fraction of an instance how quickly the ball leaves Taylor's hands. I know it's cold, but I wish he would take those off.
The d-line has gotten off their blocks much better this quarter.
Things I would like to see in the 4th Quarter:
Keep mixing in Braylon Heard with Ameer.
Bring back the play-action toss sweep that we used in the 2nd quarter. That play does a wonderful job at freezing the defense.
Play ball control, and run the clock. If we get a touchdown great, but the main goal should be running that clock and get into decent field goal position.
Special Teams still needs to be on full alert on both sides of the ball.
Play physical...nasty Husker football for one more quarter, and we're going to Indy boys! Do your jobs, work hard, communicate, and believe. Everything else will take care of itself. GO BIG RED!!!
