With TA out, we will continue to have questions about POB coming into the game. Does the redshirt only last the calendar year, and does the redshirt timeframe include the bowl game?

I tried checking in wikipedia, and in doing so, I learned that the term "redshirt" came from Nebraska back in 1937.
