Okay, with all the comments about the coordinators being horrible, isn't that ultimately an indictment of the HC. How is MR not accountable for everything his OC and DC does?

Absolutely. He needs to get rid of his old buddies and get some better coaches in here. Hes started it by getting rid of Reed, but now needs to man up and tell a couple others to kick rocks.
