First Quarter Impressions:

  • If Nebraska is not at the top, we are damned near close to being at the top of the most undisciplined & focused teams in Division 1 football.
  • Taylor Martinez is a tremendous athlete there is no question about that. He makes explosive plays, but he also makes some very boneheaded decisions with the football that cost this team wins. When his boneheaded decisions start outnumbering his explosive plays then it should be justified to start looking at giving one of the backup QB's a shot.
  • The defense is playing well so far. Give credit to Northwestern on that TD Pass...it was a good call.
  • Our offensive line has to start plowing people backwards or the second half of this season is going to be a long one for Nebraska.

Things I Would Like To See Going Into The Second Quarter

  • Start establishing the zone-read as our base running play. This is one play Taylor excels at.

Could someone explain to me why the hell Beck calls a drop-back pass on 3rd down on our 2 yardline, knowing full-well Taylor has issues getting sacked back there, and knowing full-well the defense is going to be expecting it?
