They just don’t seem to have a lot of talent. They know what Nebraska is trying to do but don’t have the players to execute. They can’t do anything vertically currently.
They have lost a lot.  This could be going the other way if they had Parsons and Journey Brown among others.

I’m not digging deep to find out if players have panned out but based on their recruiting rankings, that’s just not true.

HAVE TO get a stop to start the 3rd. That sets the tempo for the game.

Lubick and Frost need to adjust on O. They’re spying Luke some and the same people are getting the ball on dinky plays. Mix. It. Up.

Ya they are keying on Luke and Wan'Dale. That has to set us up for some other plays.

It'll be interesting if Frost remembers his own words after the loss in Boulder last year after playing very similar in the first half.

You know keeping your foot on the gas, continue going for the kill, etc.  Or is it more postgame coach speech that he has mastered.....

You don’t need recruiting rankings if you have working eyeballs. PSU is talent deficient. No Parsons & Brown though.

Preeeeetty sure we had a poster accuse Williams of being "a poor man's Damion Stafford"...where you at, bro??

Mills must be dinged up, as he is not in there.

too much Wan Dale out of the back. field. he needs to stay in the slot or split out.

using him in goal line offense doesn't work.

Per Mike Babcock, this is the first time Nebraska has used the West sideline in a game since Devaney's first game in 1962.

First Half Obeservations:

  • This is McCaffery's team now. Everyone can see the offense plays with more energy, efficiency, and better tempo when he is at the helm.
  • The defense is playing exactly to Chinander's scheme; bend-don't break, and make turnovers.
  • We have NFL caliber players at the linebacker position. They need to keep growing, but they are smart and make consistently solid form tackles.
  • Loved the usage of Wan'Dale Robinson at running back again.
  • The bubble screens & swing passes can be a nice change up for an offense, but they should not be a part of this offense's base package. This offense desperately needs an outside zone/ mid-line option package to go along with our inside zone & power scheme, especially with a player like Wan'Dale Robinson.
  • It's slow, but this team is growing up everyone. With McCaffery now the starter we can now start to build on other pieces of the offense.

Things I would like to see in the 2nd Half:

  1. Find a downhill running game, and set up the play-action vertical pass to one of our big TE's.
  2. More dual halfback sets with Robinson & Thompkins on either side of McCaffery.
  3. Don't get too cute with play calling. We've got a decent lead, just keep playing smart football.
