***Official Rutgers Game Discussion Thread***

Boy I sure do wish we would try another QB.
Sarcasm?
Remember when Ryker Fyfe threw 5 INTs against leading to 28 Purdue points?

I predict a loss if we throw the ball 25 or more times in the second half. Although our DL is looking really tough today. I wouldn't be surprised if the DL gets a sack and forces a fumble.

Yes, Rutgers is not a very good secondary, which means the pass will more than likely be there. But you've gotten them to think pass, run the ball, it just makes sense given the circumstances.

I just don't agree with keeping Langsdorf around, he has shown several times that he's loses his mind and calls a terrible game at points. No reason to throw up 21-0, start getting the running game going, keep passing short just to keep the defense honest, ride the running game to a win.

I would be ok if we brought Scott Frost in as OC/Head Coach in Waiting

TA is good at keeping both teams in the game. First INT was dumb play calling though. Run and punt if needed. No second drive then.

So let's get mad at Langs for doing what is working. On the first pick Moore was WIDE open down the sideline. Tommy should never have been throwing to Hovey in the first place. Or how bout that incomplete screen pass to Cotton that he had days of green in front of him? On that second pick we probably should've been running but that was all on Tommy. I love Tommy but a better qb either completes those passes or knows to throw it away. Langsdorf is not the issue here.

Play to the QB's f*ing strengths.
Dear Lord, how can any of you blaming Langsdorf for that INT? The guy was wide open and TA overthrew it horribly. That is 100% on TA, not Langs.
Langsdorf knows his QB has 54% completion percentage and makes boneheaded mistakes. So no, it's not just on TA.
Yes it is, and if you don't see that then you have an unhealthy obsession with blaming everything on the coaching staff. TA doesn't have really andy strengths other than extending a play with his feet so if you "play to his strengths" then we wouldn't throw the ball at all.
Bull. With him, you can go ZR, ZR PA, PA boot, move the pocket, roll out, etc. Basically a lot of stuff DL doesn't want to do
TA, in a correct system as you described above would be deadly IMO. An OC who calls to this and we could be sitting very pretty right now.
Until he tweaks his ankle even worse and we wind up with multiple games of Fyfe at QB and possibly the 2010 offense post TM ankle injury all over again.
Love the idea of TA in that offense. Doubt he'd hold up all season.

Looking past the frustrating play calling, we have questionable execution and decision making from our veteran QB. Watching Tommy is like being on roller coaster. He wows you with some of the plays he makes but then crushes your spirit by making a very poor decision combined with poor execution. I can live with occasional poor execution but I expect better decisions from a veteran QB.
It is amazing how similr he is to TM in that regard
Very similar indeed.

I would be OK with this if we could also get a great DC, and an average special teams coach.

It still feels awfully weird, and slightly wrong that Nebraska is playing a conference game in New Jersey?!?!

HEY! QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COACHES! (Even though the coaches come up with the gameplan, call the plays, are responsible for educating and training the kids and their execution, and should have the knowledge to adjust and account for gametime events)

THIS IS ALL ON THE KIDS AND THEIR PERFORMANCE!!! QUIT PICKING ON THE COACHES!!!
