We were in down and long situations, they know we're going to pass, they're not going to get beat like they did on 2nd and 21 before, and their defensive line did a good job of containing.

If you're gonna put blame somewhere, put it on the penalty that killed our positive first down gain and took us out of their game.

This game is playing out how I thought it would so far. Our offense can move it against them, but our defense isn't ready and our still young, inexperienced offense isn't going to win an all-out shootout.

What I mean is - I don't know if Taylor was just too late in deciding to scramble, or if the OL is at fault for not giving him any room to run through. The pocket really closed in whenever Taylor wanted to turn it upfield. He would have had plenty of room.

The other thing of course is Taylor missing the checkdowns, which some other people mentioned. Definitely, that penalty put us in the eight ball. Irafreak has a point though, the three passes in a row also was probably not the smartest way to get us into a good 3rd down situation.

I agree, but our offense is still young, playing against its first top 10 defense. I'm just saying, there are going to be some 3 and outs, and we're gonna get stopped sometimes. If we're gonna win, we have to stop THEM sometimes.
