***Official Wyoming Game Discussion***

Martinez needs to underthrow those a little less. I know it's ok to underthrow the deep ball a little, but that was too close.
Well, it's not exactly okay to underthrow the deep ball a little. It depends on the type of ball it is. When the receiver is tightly covered 1-on-1, then you *want* to underthrow it to make him come back for it and beat the corner that is running with him. Throw it in stride and it's probably an incompletion, and the corner has a pretty good chance on the ball as he is step for step with the WR. If the receiver is just plain not covered, then you have to hit the guy in strideand there's no "OK" about underthrowing even a little, because that's not what you try to do.

By the way this 3rd-and-3 on the goalline is a definite 50/50 passing down. But it looks like Wyoming knew we were absolutely no threat to pass in this situation. It's too bad! Hopefully we throw that out there, because teams that load up on the run in these situations are going to stop us a pretty high percentage of the time.
1. I agree on the deep ball, but when you have a QB like Taylor Martinez, who isn't a great passer, I'd rather he underthrow a little to a wide open Kyler Reed for a 40 yard gain as opposed to overthrow for an incompletion.

2. We are a threat to throw in 3rd and goal type situations, like we did to Legate last week against Washington - Wyoming did a good job of anticipating the playcall though, and they had the zone read covered.

We're going to have to adjust with the "look-to-the-sideline" offense as the year goes on. People are going to set up in a certain look to tempt Beck into changing the call from the sideline, and then adjust the defense to protect against that call. There's going to be a lot of cat-and-mouse.
