Yes it is. There was a graphic put up during the gamd.

There weren't any receivers maybe going there that then cut off their routes - he threw it away to nobody on purpose. It was the right call, even if you rarely see it.
In 50 years of watching football , I have never seen intentional grounding called on a long pass where the receiver cut off his route.

The odd thing though...
There was NOT a defender hanging onto Martinez nor was he on the verge of being tackled. There were two defenders there, but they were both 1-2 yards away.
no, the odd thing was the flag was thrown well after the play when martinez was standing next to the ref. thought he was getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty thrown on him.
Honestly I think Nebraska's penalty woes this year boil down to 3 things:
1) Terrible discipline on all sides of the ball
2) The stigma of being a penalty prone team is hard to shake
3) Our uniforms and helmets stand out more compared to most teams.
I don't get #3. If that is the case, Oregon should be the most penalized team in college football.
Its a fact that drivers of red cars get more speeding tickets than any other color of vehicle. Just sayin’.
The stat was a bit more narrowed down than "any holding call". What it says was any holding call on a pass play that was accepted by us. There were probably a few that happened on third down that were declined to make it fourth down and a punt situation. Still since so many teams now throw on any down and not just third and long it was a very revealing stat.Bias is consistently calling one team for penalties that you let slide for every other team.
Minnesota had a TD pass negated because of a holding penalty. That was the first holding penalty called on any of our conference opponents in 21 games.
Stop and think about that. 21 games our opponents were NOT called for any holding. And you're insisting there is no bias against Nebraska? Not buying it.
What is the difference between throwing it 50 yards downfield and throwing it into the sidelines. Not a damn thing. Intentional grounding is stupid.
If the QB is out of the pocket, both are allowed. If the QB is in the pocket, neither is allowed. So there isn’t a difference.
