OH THE HYPOCRACY OF IT ALL.........

Four-Star Recruit
I often find it amazing just how hypocritical the posters on this site can be, ( FIRST AND FOREMOST MYSELF).

We spin anything and everything so that it best suits us and the argument(s) we are trying to make.

I admit i am as guilty as the next, but this whole Marlon Lucky thing is taking the cake.

A vast majority of people got on here and pushed for Cally, backed Cally and the job he's done, stating his recruiting as a strong point and they defend him when people question why a certain player is on the field stating "Cally plays the best players, period".

Then comes Mr. Lucky. A plethora of the people saying the things above are now stating that Lucky shouldnt be the feature back, he doesnt have this, he cant do that, etc. etc.

Now this makes no sense. We adore Cally for playing the best people, telling us naysayers that we need to trust the coaches but you then question the Lucky decision, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?

If we trust the coaches then Marlon is going to be very good, remember he was the starter the first part of the year, he got a good amount of touches the last part of the year, and was the workhorse in the bowl ahead of the starter for that latter part of the season. the starter for the latter part of the season was healthy and rested yet lucky got the touches. who made that decision OH YEAH, Cally the guy that plays the best players.

It is constantly stated that the coaches know way more than us armchair QB's and since we are to trust them they must know and think lucky is better.

I think the thing being missed is BJAX who obviously worked his way past a good player and into the nfl. that made lucky work harder and ultimately it appears he pulled back ahead. it speaks well for bjax and for lucky.

We as fans and posters cant have it both ways, be consistent with your takes. Should we trust or not trust Cally? We must stop using both arguments depending on the situation and picking which one helps us at this particular time.

Not really.

I am a huge fan of BC and have been since day one. I am certain he knows far more about football than anyone on this board.

But I still have the right to my opinion.

I do feel BJ was the starter at the beginning of the year for one reason and one reason only. He was the most complete back. Marlon was the star back, that needed to play due to recruiting. I think BJ proved he was the starter and took over. I think he was held out of the game due to worries about the wrist not being totally ready. No fumbles was a requirement. Your hand whether carrying the ball or not is still put in harms way on every single play.

I feel if BJ had played the whole game we would have won the game. But he may have fumbled due to the extra carries. Lucky provided the security that BC was looking for.

I just do not think ML is the guy. He has stated he can not nor would he want to carry the ball 25-30 times a game. But because I do not like the running style of a back does not mean that BC is not playing what he feels to be the best. I just do not agree on this particular player. And I might add I am probably wrong, and it certainly would not be the first time.

uh it's basically about a game with pro and con views and human emotions about said views. and to be a spelling nazi just like my punctuation it's hypocrisy. don't ya jst hate tit when someone critiques your spelling. :)

We all do. BC may know far more about football than anyone on this board, but that doesnt mean he knows more about winning than any of us.

Right to my opinion.

landon, 90% of the people who post on this site wont agree callahan has done his job until we 13-0 two or three years in a row, most expect it to happen right away. It doesn't work like that, and anyone with any understanding of the game would and should know that. Marlon is a great back. Especially for just finishing up his sophomore year. WOW! some of the big time programs would of loved to have him on their roster. If we didn't have more than one good RB, we wouldn't be doing this unecessary criticizing of Marlon. Everyone needs to give BC and Marlon and all the skers a break. WE ARE HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!

BC may know more about football than anyone else on this site, but I guarantee you that he knows a hell of a lot more about football than his boss. Who fires a coach who in 5 years as HC was coach of the league 2 out of the 5 years, who after being fired led a team to the conference championship for the first time in like forever and first bowl appearance in like forever, and btw was coach of the year in that conference?

In terms of coaching, we had a far superior coach with the last guy. He was fired because he couldn't recruit. BC is a great offensive mind. However, his coaching goes down hill in a hurry after drawing up a few plays. For instance, we outscored our opponents this year by an obscene amount in the first quarter. After the scripted plays were gone through and the opposing team's defense had a chance to adjust, we were totally screwed.

After watching what FS has done at Ohio in such a short amount of time, I'm convinced he's a great coach. He just couldn't recruit the players needed, so he was fired. BC brings in a few of the players we need to win, but stumbles. In his first 3 years, we've had at least one game in each season that has been a complete and total meltdown. In his first year, obviously it was the shilacking we took at the hands of the Red Raiders. In 05, the obvious meltdown was getting our ever living asses kicked by lowly KU. This year, obvioulsy it was getting our bare bottoms spanked by OSU.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm with the landonhusker. The hipocracy of some here has no limits. In 3 more years, does BC still get to use the excuse of FS recruits? We're getting better is all we hear, but are we really? We had a 5 loss season. I don't believe one team we beat this year was ranked at the end of the season. We are told that BC is a great recruiter. However, how many of the 4 and 5 star recruits from that highly touted recruting class a couple of years ago are gone? How many recruits have decommitted since Blake's departure? If Coz would happen to leave, it will be the second coordinator or staff member this year. If you can't keep players and can't keep coordinator here, I think you're going to find it difficult to win here.

:yeah

GBR!!!

junior4949,

You certainly are entitled to your thoughts.

I remind you of the total embarassments that Frank led us to.

Colorado, Miami to start it off. Not to mention the loss to Arizona the year before.

I know the the 9-3 season is coming but prior to that we were 7-5 with victories over two directional schools or close to.

Our losses in that tremendous 9-3 season were total embarasements to at that time top programs.

BC lost 1 game this year that we shold not have. Oklahoma State. We were underdogs on all the others. And I might add that those games other than SC were very close to highly ranked teams.

I agree he needs to learn a little more about the college game, but he seems sincere in wanting to.

I am not happy with the numbers, but I am happy with the progress. You choose to see things half empty, and I see it half full.

I personally like Frank Solich. He was my inspiration in high school. Being a small running back.

But Frank was in over his head, had a AD that hated him to start with, old codgers that refuesed to help him and actually wanted his job. A new AD that made rules that he failed to adhere to. Frank failed for a number of reasons, and I would not put it all on his coaching either. But I still feel the program is in better hands for the future than they would have been. Liking Mr. Pederson is not a requirement for liking BC. If it were I would be in real trouble. But the man has done a lot of good for Nebraska.

So as long as a lot of people say we should lose, it's okay to lose?

I guess there are more renovations going on at Memorial Stadium. They are changing the messages etched in stone at the gates. They will now read:

Southeast: "In Commemoration of the men of Nebraska who served and fell in the Nations Wars, we will complain on your behalf. God rest your souls."

Southwest: "Not the victory but in embarassing the opponent; Not the goal but the griping about the gameplan; In the deed the glory, in the loss the excuses."

Northwest: "Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport. Holding, Facemask, Personal Foul, Interference; In these are the true words yelled by fans on any given play."

Northeast: "Their Lives they held their countrys trust; They kept its faith; They died its heroes. However they still think T.O. and the option would work."

"Through these gates pass the greatest fans in college football...Just ask any one of them."

I've said it before and say it again. I was born and raised a Husker. I am an alumni. I will always cheer for good 'ol NU....but NU fans are the most critical, hypocritical, biased fans in college sports.

;)

I never said it was okay to lose, but you lose some and you win some.

I would just rather lose by one point and be competitive, like one of our motos, than to be drug up and downt he field and not being the least competitive.

That is the difference. Now in the next couple of years if we see that happening, I will have my questions, but as stated before BC got here, we were hurting in the talent department. And I am not blaming that all on Frank. But the changes needed to be made, and I truly feel we are seeing improvement. Unfortunately it is not as fast as some unrealistic fans seem to think it should happen. WE ARE NEBRASKA WE ARE SUPPOSE TO WIN EVERY GAME mentality gets old. It just does not happen.

But as the above post says, Nebraska fans are considered the most unrealistic fans in sports. Some here mirror their thoughts.

Losing the big ones is not acceptable but it is understandable for this year. We were competitive against the elites which gives one hope that the pattern won't continue. We had some pretty sorry luck agains the Horns and a very unfortunate first quarter against the Sooners. If we do not start beating some of the elites in the next year or two things could get ugly.

I'm more concerned about our sorry 2nd half play than I am about wins/losses on the year. Something's got to improve there. We came close to dropping the Aggies game. I loved our last drive but that aged me a few years.
