The Duke
All-Conference
First Half Observations
Things I'd like to see in the 2nd Half
- Solid first half of football for Nebraska. Physically this team looks about as good as they have in years. O-Line especially looks solid.
- If it wasn't for some very questionable gift calls by the refs in Ohio State's favor this would be an even closer game.
- LOVE the multiple uses of McCaffery. Always play your best 11 players and find any way to get your skill players involved, and Frost is doing that.
- LOVE the switch to a progression style of passing for this offense. It will dramatically help Martinez's passing efficiency and hopefully limit turnovers. By not having to read coverages he can now just PLAY. 1st read, 2nd read, 3rd read, run or throw away.
- LOVE the use of the I-formation with Mills at the fullback spot. We will be seeing a little old school Nebraska option sometime this year...guaranteed.
- Difference in the game is the talent gap between the Ohio State offense and the Nebraska defense. Our linebackers are still slow and cannot match Ohio State's speed, but to their credit they are playing with all out effort.
- Nebraska still needs to recruit some elite outside linebackers to help provide a consistent pass rush.
- Finally...win or lose today...Nebraska is playing football again! And in 2020 that's a win.
Things I'd like to see in the 2nd Half
- Keep playing the time of possession game, and hope Ohio State makes a mistake. The longer Nebraska at least stays in the game, the more confidence it will give the players.
- Get Dedrick Mills more involved.
