Ohio State sucks. Who can we steal?

After all the crap that's coming out now, steal might not be the word I would use. Maybe more along the lines of who can we afford. Never thought I would see Ohio ST in this kind of a mess. Hope they get their program cleaned back up.

GBR!!!

you really think we'll take another RB with three true freshman coming in? I guess when a big-time player is there you take him regardless of need.

Whether NU likes it or not, we've only got 85 scholarships per year. And with Pelini's stand, he's not taking scholarships away from upperclassmen for freshmen unless they do something to get them taken away.

Right now we have 12 guys graduating next year.... meaning 12 incoming guys who will take their scholarships... with natural attrition/injuries/etc. we will have a couple more spots come open for something like 14 spots.

Let's say we have 14 scholarships to give out to the class of 2012... well we have 2 commits already... David Sutton is greyshirting from 2011 so he gets one... we're already down to 11 scholarships left for next year.

With the 11 we have right now there are certain positions of need we have to fill. period. Linebacker is one of those needs. Tight End is one of those needs. With Spano and Green gone and Jamal at WR Quarterback is now one of those needs. There's 3 major needs right there. Beyond that we could really use a few great O-linemen, we could use a couple great DB's as we didn't take but 1 freshman there last year and we could use a couple really good solid DE's. With LB, TE, QB, OL, DB, & DE as positions of need.... those 11 scholarships are gone like **Snap**. We really do not have any room in this class to take a DT or a RB even if a fantastic one comes along because some of those other positions I just listed are positions of need, need as in we don't have a second string and the first isn't super great, need as in what happens when Ben Cotton and Kyler Reed graduate after the 2012 season and we haven't brought in 1 tight end the past 4 years that can even play close to their level. There's some times when a coach can finagle his numbers to get that Phenom player that they really dont need and theirs other times when it just can't happen or you hurt the team as a whole.... this is one of those years.

So if a 5 star running back knocks on our door we say no.

Ya'll may think i'm crazy and that's cool... but i'm just sayin' where I see us at right now.

Coaches will always make room for a high caliber player no matter the whole numbers crunch. Always have always will. Never know who will be a dud, flunk out, get injured, etc. so when the opportunity knocks you always answer.

This class will end up in the 15-17 range numberswise, and Bo most definitely will go after a DT in this class. That is probably the hardest position to recruit, and with the very talented DT's that NU is in on and the interest those kids are showing only verifies that.

Many Recruits not fazed by Tressel newsRivals article May 30, 2011

When it comes to the current commitments, the same holds true for almost all of them. Running back Warren Ball and tight end Blake Thomas are both very much on board and wide receiver Frank Epitropoulos put on his Facebook this afternoon "Thanks Coach Tressel for giving me the opportunity to play at OSU. You will be missed. Ohio State is still Ohio State and I'm still a Buckeye. Go Bucks!".

Offensive linemen Jacoby Boren and Kyle Kalis and linebacker Josh Perry are also expected to remain solid. However, there is one current commitment who has been affected greatly by the Tressel situation. Running back Bri'Onte Dunn, who had been looking around at other programs since the Tressel trouble began, has been considering Michigan and could make the switch according to many sources. Penn State has also been mentioned as a future home for the talented back. LINK

I would also like to add that the staff clearly has shown there is a heavy need for WR. We got Westerkamp, but we are still heavily pursuing players like Lawler. Other than that, I think your post is dead on. However, if we get a major DT, I don't think we turn em down.
