And to that fact, a lot of the outside success is because the defense got caught up plugging the inside while the RB bounced it outside.  

Those outside runs wouldn't be as effective if that is what we ran the majority of the time.  The defense has to think you will run inside as well.  I thought you were a coach?

 I am and the DESIGNED outside runs as I stated earlier have been much more successful than the inside ones. Those "outside" runs where the inside is backed up, aren't our big gainers- they are the ones hurting the average.  

Any plays we've pulled on and our option plays hitting outside have been money, that's a fact.

And I think this is where things will improve as our RB room continues to get more playing time and develops.

Kind of unfair to even mention Ameer in a conversation like this because probably none of our guys we have right now are on his level, but he was amazing at doing this. He had the real-time decision making and vision and would bounce or cut to get outside and find space.

So it also isn't 100% on our linemen to make a RB handoff be successful.

You do realize IZ plays can be bounced outside when absolutely nothing is open inside right? and those plays get counted as running outside". That has happened quite a bit with this team- as the middle is usually stacked up. 

The designed outside runs seem to be hitting for more yardage than the inside runs- as I suggested. We've all seen the outside running game has been more productive than the inside one.

I've watched 3 games in person and now re-watched all the games. 

If you've ever played, coached or even watched any football game closely- running backs DO bend or bounce plays outside- that were never designed to go outside. Quite often because the inside is bottled up. Thats football in real life- and especially for this NU team which really struggles with the IZ running game. 

Didn't you have some numbers on the plays we pulled on- which showed a really big average gain? At least in comparison to our IZ gains. Can you state those again for us on this thread?

Yes, those plays have been more effective.  However, they wouldn't be if we weren't also running IZ to keep defenses guessing.  Come on coach, you know this, right?

 Ok TV fan- no one was suggesting we run every single running play to the outside were we?

Or when someone suggests we throw downfield more- they aren't suggesting we throw every single pass deep are they?

 VERY TRUE- We didn't see much of this the first 3 games- Maybe the coaches got on here and finally figured it out  and took our advice. Never knew a free fan message board had so much power. Looked like it worked for them- must have been saving it up for OU.

You do realize that there is a HUGE difference between a designed rollout or bootleg compared to a "scramble" right?? One is designed via a fake run and blocking scheme, the other is a broken play. BIG difference- that's pretty basic.

Again, some might dismiss this as not really play-action but look how much it influences the LB to clear the middle for the throw behind him.

Yes, Those plays where we pull seem to be a lot more effective than the IZ plays- Didnt you have some good stats on that- Could you reshare that with us again please? Shame to do all that research and not share it again with the board.
