This wasn't simply a loss to a good team, this was a humiliation and an in-place-putting of epic proportions. This was a clear demonstration that NU cannot even *compete* with a team like Wisconsin or probably any team in the top 10 - 15. I was expecting a loss but was expecting a loss close enough that I could still be hopeful for a nail-biter that could have resulted in a win. This was a pounding, NU was laid bare and exposed on that field as being a 2nd or 3rd tier team. It was almost to the point where we weren't even worthy of congratulating Wisconsin for the win, more like we should have apologized for wasting their time. I don't doubt that they could have hung 60+ on the huskers if they'd really tried.
Basically, to say that this loss wasn't a cause for alarm is akin to saying that husker fans should be content to be a non-competitor. Yeah, it took T.O. a while to win the big one, I'm not saying that I expect a national title any time soon, but I expect that NU should give teams a run for their money. If we'd gotten out of there down by a TD or, better yet, a FG, we would have all agreed that such an "L" would have still been a positive indicator. But even though we were the underdog, it was still an upset by just how thoroughly the team was dismantled.
