Every few years it seems there is another team or coach or offensive flavor of the day that is annointed as the best thing in college football. The reality is that with parity and spreading of the wealth, only a very few teams can achieve consistant excellence. Oregon, Tex A&M, Baylor come to mind currently. All were the next wonderchildren with young exciting coaches or styles. It all starts in the trenches. Control the line of scrimmage and you are well on the way to becoming very good. Obviously it takes more pieces than the big guys to get to the top. Physical DB's, fast sure tackling LB's, solid WR's and RB's and a quarterback who won't mistake you to death in an offensive style that doesn't make him gamble too often. Injuries can put a halt to what starts out as a very good season. There are lots of pieces to the puzzle of a championship season and very few achieve it.
