Just read this on OWH's Big Red Today.

3:59 p.m., Tuesday Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne expressed his support for coach Bo Pelini in a short statement released Tuesday afternoon.
Osborne said this:

“Bo and his staff have done some very fine things in the three years he has been at Nebraska. The players have done very well academically, the off-the-field behavior has improved considerably and team chemistry, and unity of purpose have been exceptional. Our team has been well-prepared and played with intensity every week. Bo and his staff have turned the football program in a very positive direction.

“It is important that people maintain a sense of perspective and balance concerning the football program in view of the events of last Saturday. Bo has indicated that events such as those will not happen again. I take him at his word, and agree that it is very important that going forward we do not see a recurrence.”

Pelini apologized for his behavior during his weekly press conference Monday, saying he “let it get personnel” as he argued with officials Saturday night at Texas A&M. Osborne declined interview requests Monday seeking comment on Pelini's sideline demeanor.

I am sure that Bo will have 6,7,8, or 25 sticks of gum so that the refs won't be able to understand a word he is saying just to be on the safe side.

Until he bites the sh!t out of his tongue from chewing so hard, then all hell breaks loose.

 
I'm still of the opinion that Bo has little to nothing to apologize for. If the TM incident wasn't justified (we will probably never know for sure) then he owes an apology to TM and TM alone, and that can be handled privately between those two men. The refs are another story. Even if you argue that Bo screaming at refs doesn't help us win games, that's an issue of prudence, not ethics. You don't have to make media apologies for matters of prudence (that would be like Bo apologizing for using a Nickel formation where a Dime would have worked better). I really don't care if it makes us look less classy as perception is fleeting and rarely accurate.

 
That declaration of "support" was a lot like one from Jerry Jones. It is essentially an ultimatum from or through TO from Perlman, to both Pelinis that they are gone if they embarrass the university with out of control behavior again. It had to be said. I hope the two can conform to the ultimatum, because we certainly don't need a coaching change in this program now.

Are you assuming there was an ultimatum, or you have info on this? Pelini said there wasn't one, and if there was it was between the three of them. Fans' expectations of how this situation should be handled is much more extreme than those who actually make the call.

 
Pearlman is a fricken tool, if he does anything to harm this program again, next it'll be the big boosters putting HIS head under the axe.

 
At any other major program the administration and the coaching staff would be canabalizing eachother by now, throwing around blame and excuses like frisbees. All while the media would sit perched like vulchers with cameras and tape recorders, documenting it all with hopes of chumming the water in hopes that the program and those involved devour eachother.

Nebraska simply responded quick with confidence, poise, and precision. The A.D. (T.O.) showed support for the coach and pointed out only positives the coaching staff and the program have had. Neutralizing what could have been "easy pickins'" for the media vultures. T.O. knows all to well that no one, one game, or one incident is larger than the program itself.

This is what makes NEBRASKA football great.

We should take up a collection to buy Bo a lifetime supply of Kleenex and Double Bubble chewing gum.

 
didnt we go through this exact thing a few years ago...TO said he was behnd Bo after some giant tyrade and

bo was going go to some anger management therapy.....we were going to see a kinder gentler Bo?

 
Bo's actions don't even compare to the 60 min. circus antics of Az. Wildcat coach Mike Stoops. The vacuum created when his head explodes may in fact, be the greatest threat to the planet earth.
