Yeah, luckily the Blackshirts have a lot of speed on the ends, in the linebacking core, and then with the DB's, so hopefully we can contain Meyer. As long as it's not a repeat of the Brad Smith episode from last season, I think the D will be fine.
I'm sorry but I don't think we should have trouble with ISU!!! Yeah sure they are returning multiple starters on offense but our defense is better than when we saw them last year!!!! Everyone knows offense is great but defense wins championships!!! Our defense should be outstanding their defense is not so good!!! Our offense should exploit them no problem. Our defense surely will stop their offense and hopefully drive their QB into the ground a few times!!! :thumbs
I think it will make the players go all out, but at the end I think the Huskers will win by 2-3 touchdowns. You make a good point with the good defense for them. Our offense should move the ball on them. This will be a fun game to watch.
I think Andre Jones will be the real deal, and they will use him a lot throughout the season, and he will be seasoned by this game, so I think we'll see a lot of him. He has a lot of speed, so he should be able to contain the wide receivers.
I should have mentioned this in my previous post. If any part of our defense can be exploited or is suspect it's our secondary. Any husker fan knows this with our secondary experience leaving over the past couple of years. If they can get some confidence behind them and show they can stop the pass then I'll feel better about that part of our defense. That being said though if our D-line and linebackers are as good as we think they are the QB shouldn't have much time to let the play develop before he has to pass!! :box
I don't think our whole secondary is weak. The corners have a lot of experienced, and Bowman is on the rise. I think he'll have a good year. Our safeties are the one part of the D that I worry about. They haven't had a lot of playing time, so it will take a while to get the grasp of everything. Luckily they play some bad teams before the game with USC, so they can work all the kinks out.
