NU has 21 varsity sports. THE Ohio State University has 35.

So... as a soon-to-be member of the Big 12, what sports would you like to add?

Here's some the OSU has that NU doesn't:

Lacrosse (M + W)

Fencing (M + W)

Hockey (M + W)

Pistol (M + W)

Rifle (M)

Swimming (M)

Soccer (M)

Volleyball (M)

Rowing (W)

Syncronized Swimming (W)

My choices would be Soccer for men, Lacrosse for both, Volleyball for men

I know UNO has hockey, but I would sure like to see UNL have a hockey team!

Don't they teach Fencing at East Campus?

I think we need soccer and since we are going to the big 10 we need hockey. Possibly swimming and lacrosse for both women and men too.

Problem is that for every new men's sport we add we have to add an equal number of athletes in women's sports. Right now our budget can't sustain that, so it's not likely to happen. Maybe in a few years once the University has grown.
