OU really needs him back for there to be much of a chance at anything this year. He's a big time player for them plus he's a real good blocking TE.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham will have arthroscopic surgery to determine the extent of damage to his injured right knee.

Coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday that it's unknown whether Gresham will be able to return this season. Stoops says MRIs did not reveal the extent of the damage, and he could be sidelined anywhere from two weeks to a year.

The No. 13 Sooners are already reeling from the loss of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Sam Bradford, who sprained his shoulder in a 14-13 loss to BYU and will be out at least two weeks.

Gresham was a second-team All-America pick last season and had been considered a top NFL prospect before returning for his junior year.

A source told Sports Xtra's Mark Rodgers Tuesday that University of Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham is out for the season, but head football coach Bob Stoops has denied the accuracy of that report.

When asked about the report, Stoops denied it to the Tulsa World, saying that Gresham's status will not be known until after arthroscopic surgery scheduled for Tuesday.

At his weekly news conference on Tuesday, Stoops said MRIs did not reveal the extent of the damage, and he could be sidelined anywhere from two weeks to a year.

This is a tough loss for OU. I think even with Bradford out, had Gresham been healthy this year, they could still be competive because Gresham is a great TE.

It's fate. They want to save stoops by not going to a BCS game because if they lose another one he will be struck by lightning...or be on the hot seat.

It's our year to beat them. If we show up to play smashmouth football then I think we can win. Pelini should have the boys ready, but we have awhile until then. Taking it one game at a time is the best way.

True but unless we beat them soundly and by a large margin, media pundits will downplay the win based on the alleged fact "Bradford was still hurt" and Gresham is gone.

Honestly even if we beat them with both players healthy , they would still have some bullsh#t excuse.

f#*k um , lets just beat um!
