It was out of left field, but a good one out of left field. His resume is solid and he seems to do good work. He's got one more big job left and I am confident he gets the job done.Seems like a good'n.... "out of left field" hire by Bounds/Green, but to this point it looks like a really good one.
If you don’t ask how do they say noI like him so far but he’s basically just said things I expected to hear - the “we need to to get our blackshirt defense back,” “I’m going to get the right leader,” “we have a great fanbase,” blah blah. I’m anxious, mostly in a good way, to see who he hires because I believe he will bring us a good one. But I’m also tired of getting burned by people saying all the right things. That was the entire off-season last spring basically.
He did a good job today, but he also said some things that made me ??? I know it’s probably just semantics and the way he worded his sentence, but the whole “I haven’t been told no,” thing is either misleading or wrong. It sounds like he was definitely told no by at least two options. And yes I realize that he said it in connection with “I haven’t been told no by someone I offered” but that’s not a distinction I care about.
There is a big difference between asking a prospect if he is interested in interviewing and learnign more about the job and offering him a job. Just because Moos may contact a given coach out there does not mean at all that he offered the job to him. As a hunter/shopper, you want to explore the market / options and kick the tires and test drive em. You don't buy (offer a big many millions of dollars for personal service that will determine your own future) wildly or impulsively or without due dilligence. If you don’t ask how do they say no
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say if Moos can't get Frost here he didn't want to be here.Waiting to see how successful he is in hiring Frost.
