Our O line play yesterday

They were drasticly better than last season. The blocked well.

Proof in the pudding . 582 yards offense. I bet Taylor was amazed how much time he had to throw, with the exception of a few palys.

Thoughts??

 
They played well for the most part. There were a couple of plays in which I don't think they called the right blocking scheme but that will come with experience. Also a couple of stupid penalties but that is to be expected in the first game. Overall, much better than last year.

 
They played well, a few penalties that need to be shored up but all in all a good performance. Always room for improvement.

 
A note about Taylor's throwing time: they were running heavy protection sets, utilizing their RBs and FBs more than they normally wold.

 
Never been a fan of Mann and his three penalties didn't change my opinion. If the O-Line keeps improving then the WCO will continue to to put up big numbers.

Yup, 2,3 or 4 TE's at times.

Brandon Jackson did a great job of blitz pickup a few plays. Great.

 
I thought O Line play was just ok i give it a C+. Yes we did have good rushing numbers but our guards were blown off the ball big time and tackle wasnt the best either, but it still is the first game of the season too.

 
I thought the O line was a huge improvement. The 3 yard rushes the rb were tackled by linebackers. If that happens all year I think this team will put up some big numbers.

 
day and night difference. i was impressed with the improvement...zac seemed to have time to take a nap with the protection (except a couple plays) but all in all HUGE difference...that's what happens when you get experienced depth.

 
I certainly don't want to sound like the voice of doom and gloom here, but...

The line was definately better than last year - there has been some major improvement. Particularly in pass blocking. However, I'm still concerned with the run blocking. While they did open some holes, there were a number of times in which they just didn't get much of a push on the defense.

I still think we're a couple of years away from having a truly dominate offensive line. We got so paper-thin that we have not had the time to have guys mature within the system. It will come, but it's going to take time.

 
I would like to complain about the holding penalties, but I can't complain about 0...thats right ZERO sacks. I will take that all year long. I hope they continue to gel and improve all year long.

 
There was an article in today's Des Moines Register that was talking about the game yesterday. In it Zac Taylor was saying he couldn't believe how much time he had to let receivers get open so he could make good throws. I thought they did a much better job at pass protection however; AR is right on the run protection if it wasn't for our RB's having great vision and opening their own holes I don't know if our running game would have had this many yards. Having said that though they are much better than last year keep it up boys!!!!! :thumbs
