With our previous 4 seasons as a reference, going 1-3 would be an improvement.  At that makes me puke to even type that.  1-3 as "winning"....

Yeah. If this was the Eighties (80s) or Nineties (90s) I'd agree with OP. We are not remotely those teams. We are a team that finds ever newer and more creative ways to lose games as the years go on. 

I won't be surprise if we're seven and one (7-1) or one and seven (1-7) after those first eight games. 

Our coaching staff should have taken this logical approach the past couple years.

I would have to see where this team is after the Illinois game. If we aren't bowl eligible by then, we probably won't be or barely get there. Those last 4 will be set by whatever happens those 1st 8 games.
