roy you are showing your age. for crying out loud I remember Woody from back when I was in high school, and I graduated 23 years ago so you have got to have me beat. I thought that I was old. Man if you were to cut yourself shaving you wouldnt bleed you would just have dust fall out. lol!When I was at OSU the talk was that the pro scouts better not come around the practice field. Supposedly, a couple did and Woody literally chased them on foot out of the stadium. They ran from him! I was a the practice field one day and listened and watched woody work with his players. He was mean and demeaning to them. When he did his weekly TV show he was the same way. But, his players were still loyal.
Unfortunately, the rivalry with UM was much worse than NU's with CU. Cars and store fronts around the campus were trashed the night before the game. If you went to a bar with one of the teams's (either one) sport's shirts you were at big risk!
sorry roy, i think that the Gothem Bowl was before my time. I didnt come to the husker nation until 72 at the ripe old age of 8.Husker rob: thanks, you are so good to me! I attended the NU upset of OU in '59 that broke the Big 8 Sooner win streak, while I was a frosh at NE Wesleyan!!!! I was wondering why I didn't bleed while shaving anymore. Oh and BTW, wasn't that Gotham bowl exciting to listen to?
