OWH: Outgoing UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman leaves with unmet goal: Huskers’ return to top

So, a group of unsigned recruits are the best indication that things will get better? That's disturbing. And probably a bit thin considering that this staff took a starting line up of 12+ NFLers to a 6-7 record.
So at least 1/2 of the 2015 starting lineup will be in the NFL? I'd like to hear the names.
Look at the thread for the 2017 and 2018 drafts. Consensus there was that 8 or so would be drafted during the next two years. Add in a couple of FA guys and there you go. 12 or so guys off this past seasons starting lineups that get into the NFL.A link from that thread: http://m.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/severe-these-eight-to-huskers-could-get-a-call-in/article_be13afde-10a7-11e6-9400-17324a10ef4a.html?mode=jqm

By comparison, the 7 teams NU lost to this year had about 12 guys drafted between them. None had 4 drafted.
Bo could not, and did not ever recruit a good QB, he also could not put a viable team together that knew how to mitigate the flood gates from opening. Why is it acceptable to get destroyed by Wisconsin by 70 points? why was it ok to justify indolent recruiting efforts by placing blame on the location? Why was it ok to scream, and curse out fans? Nerbaskans pay taxes, they supported BO's pay check.. Phuck that manic depressed little gurl.. Ohhhh I got Sh*t canned so Ima call boss a c*nt lol. Ohhh the fans booed me, ima tell em to f*ck off!!! Ohhh the ref blew a call, ima spit in his face and wave my hat around...

Bo is back in the rust belt where he belongs.

Martinez was a good QB. Armstrong is a good QB. Bush has talent, but we'll never really know how good he could have been.

I ignored the rest of your ignorant rant.
Martinez was garb, and Armstrong turns the ball over like Bo truns over Burgers at mcdonalds... not that there is anything wrong with that....

I thought a lot of classes and a lot of recruits during the previous couple of years gave me a lot of hope. But hey, you don't like the talent we brought in. I get it. Enjoy the star gazing.
Like the talent just fine, stop being a d!(k. Point is whether you wanna admit it or not Bo wasn't moving the chains anywhere.

It's stupid to expect some sort of linear progression. That's not how sports, and especially CFB, works. It's usually a perceived plateau followed by a jump. Or a fall.

Husker fans can be among the harshest out there when it comes to criticizing their own. Probably because so many have a sense of entitlement related to a self aggrandizement about being the best in the country. Who knows.
I think Nebraska fans are terrifically loyal to their team and their players. Better than most.

They're also pretty knowledgeable.

When the Huskers came out and played incredibly lackluster in the first half against an unranked and probation scarred Ohio State, the week after a lackluster blowout that was supposed to be their wake-up call, there may indeed have been scattered boos. A few folks up in the rafters left at halftime.

Then when Taylor Martinez engineered the greatest comeback in Nebraska history, the place went wild.

The team deserved the accolades. And they deserved the loud grumbling, too, if not the boos.

So if 95% of the fans stayed and wildly cheered on the team's second-half turnaround, that would mean the glass was 95% full.

Bo was obsessed -- I mean visibly, disturbingly obsessed -- that the glass was 5% empty. His press conference was petulant and childish.

Two years later, when the fans found out what Bo really said at halftime, a vast majority were supportive of Bo and enraged by the Leaker.

Remember that?

Nebraska fans treated Bo better than he deserved.

When Bo was given a fresh start in his hometown the exact same problems resurfaced, and Youngstown State fans -- who were leaving their 15,000 seat stadium half empty -- generally acted as dismayed and "entitled" as Husker fans.
You seem to just ignore the fire that TM and the team had been under the previous week. Even TO commented on it.

sh#t adds up. Bo's reaction wasn't to only a 5% issue.

How could I ignore it when I brought it up in the first place?

Indeed, in 2011, fans were starting to get frustrated by the lackluster performances Bo Pelini teams were regularly turning in.

Bo was upset that they noticed.

And yes, sh#t adds up. That's why Bo is no longer the coach.

And why Mike Riley was on the hot seat before his first season was over.

I believe you had no trouble lighting that fire every f'ing day, all season long.

So you may want to dial that self-righteousness back a tick.

Frank's gone, Bo's gone. Get over it. Mike Riley is here. If you don't want to support him and the program, the go find another team to cheer for.

Martinez was garb
You mean the Taylor Martinez who walked out of Nebraska with 30-something school records in his back pocket, without playing most of his Senior Year?

That Taylor Martinez?

Because if you're talking about that Taylor Martinez, you're wrong.

For about a decade people thought TO couldn't move the chains.

Actually for about two different decades.

We're thrilled you're now advocating similar patience with Mike Riley.
As I've said dozens of times, if Riley matches Frank's and Bo's performances, you won't hear me calling for his head.

Unfortunately, even if he bounces up two or three levels from his career .500 record, he only has a decade of coaching left in him (if that).

Nebraska fans, like 90% of P5 fans and 99% of all other fans, need to come to grips with the reality that we will likely never win another NC.

Chasing that ring is more likely to lead to sub .500 seasons than division and conf titles.

I think if TO had stayed as AD, Bo would still be here and we would have won 10 or 12 games this past season. And we'd be in a better spot today than we are currently in terms of pulling off a conf championship.

Problem is, and I think it will lead NU to become truly mediocre, that sort of result isn't good enough for most fans.
He is seriously preaching that we are going to become more mediocre at the same time he is saying we should have stayed the course with Bo to become more mediocre.

You can't make this stuff up folks.
If you guys would quit quoting him I wouldn't have to see any of his stupidity.

It's amusing to me that Perlman would invoke respect for Osborne's legacy while also justifying the idiocy of firing Frank in '03 and later Bo for "not winning the games that matter."
Well, Bo absolutely did not win the games that mattered so what's your point?
Yea Frank probably should not have been fired, but how can anyone still defend Bo? He told you to go F*ck yourself. Bo was an embarrassment, he had a terrible petulant temper, and he could not win the games that mattered.

Harvey's greatest achievement was Sh*t canning ole BO. I commend Harvey for that endeavor.
I don't think Bo ever said "Throwing Bones, go ____ yourself." But maybe I missed that Omaha/Journalstar article.
Obviously he didn't use your HB name, or your RL name but he did tell the fans to go F themselves, and if you're a fan (I'm assuming you are since you are here posting) that applies to you as well.
He told fans who booed his players to go f#*k themselves. And I echo his sentiments.
Great leadership skills right there. So CM do you ever think you will get over the firing of BP? Ans can you please enlighten us all with what bo might have accomplished had he not been fired?
BP obsessions?

How's that glass house of yours?
CM you should stop posting from both accounts.
