Packed Flight

So I received a phone call last night about 9:30 est time. It was United calling to see if there was anyway I could switch my flight because they had over sold the 9:55 flight on Friday to Omaha from Chicago.

I am flying in from Charlotte to go to the game. So I asked what type of incentives are you providing. She reponded "100 dollars", I chuckled and then proceeded to ask when the next flight out was from Chicago. She responded and said 4:15 pm. I chuckled again and told her I had made my reservations 4 months ago.

No way I am going to sit in Ohare Airport from 8:30 , when I get in from Chicago, till 4:15 for 100 dollars. That is NUTZ!

Anyway my whole point of this story is that I am going to be on a flight of Hokie Fans.

Should I throw a red smoke bomb on the plane when I get on ?
wait until you get to the airport and see what incentives they offer right before the plane boards, you might just get 2 RT tickets anywhere United flys, and some cash. just like an auction they will start low, but will up the ante pretty quick.

i dont mind sitting around an airport if i dont have to be somewhere right away and can take a later flight if the price is right.

Man we are going to be lucky if we get on at all. This stupid storm coming through here is gonna be nasty! Its a semi- tropical depression

Good tip on getting to the airport early and have them add your name to the volunteer list. They'll call you to the desk when it is confirmed they need voluntary 'bumps' then ask what is the incentive. You might check tonight to see if ANY seats are available NOW on United at any price and use that as your bargaining chip to get out of Ohare earlier.

You are lucky, I flew to Indianapolis to see friends and drive down to Louisville for the Ryder Cup and K State v Louisville football game last week. Northwest cancelled the non stop flight and then started playing mind games via email on new connections THEY booked me on. So I went to Orbitz, checked other options regardless of price and saved myself at least 4 hours sitting in Memphis by flying through Minneapolis. I couldn't rebook on line but called NWA c/s and the rep I got had to get approval from a super. My argument was I bought the ticket 4 months ago and I want to be accomodated in the earliest possible arrival in IND. They went along with my Nebraska logic.

Good luck! You'll have fun with the Hokies...good people. When my dot was in DC she had friends that graduated from there and they took her home for a game one weekend and she had a ball. She said they party harder than Huskers and she's been around our wild and crazy friends attending games in Lincoln, Lawrence, Tempe, Austin, etc!

If I were in your shoes I would quietly sit next down to one of there hokie fans (being careful not to catch rabies) then just stare at him without saying a word. No blinking and when he turns to ask about the constant stare inturupt him by yelling GBR!!
