Former Nebraska offensive lineman Chris Patrick, bypassed in last week’s NFL Supplemental Draft, has signed a two-year free-agent contract with the New York Giants.

According to The Star Ledger of New Jersey, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Patrick was impressive in a Tuesday workout with the Giants. He said Wednesday he had drawn interest from a few teams, including the Jets and Patriots.

Patrick, of course, was thrilled to join the Giants, whose preseason camp begins July 26.

“I’m like, ‘Wow, it’s always been my dream to play in the NFL, especially with the Giants,’ ” said Patrick, a native of Ithaca, Mich. “I’ve always been a farm boy, but I guess now I’ll have to get used to big-city life.”

Patrick started 12 games for Nebraska at left tackle last season as a junior after starting the final two games of the 2005 season. He said family issues led to his decision to skip his final year at NU.
