Nebraska to hold auction of sports memorabilia

WORLD-HERALD BUREAU

LINCOLN - The University of Nebraska athletic department is starting an online auction of sports memorabilia, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Fans and collectors can go to Huskers.com to view a variety of items, including a full-sized Heisman Trophy helmet signed for former NU quarterback Eric Crouch. Also on the block are mini-Heisman helmets autographed by Crouch, Mike Rozier and Johnny Rodgers, and a Husker logo football signed by the three.

Among other football-related items featured are a Bob Devaney-era equipment trunk and a replica of Bob Brown's 1962 jersey.

The two-week auction - running through Feb. 14 - is expected to be the first of four. All revenue generated from sales will go to the Husker Nation Championship Drive.

Hes about a dud, is that stuff you just sell, maybe thats why ive got a poor attitude about the coaching changes and things that are going on in the program. If you need to generate revenue, find a better way then selling pieces of school history.

I agree. Have another woman's husker football day or something don't resort to selling merchandise on the computer to pay for your crap because your broke.

Those things may seem minor to you, but what about the players that earned them, and what they have meant to the NU program. Seems like they desereve just a little spot to still shine since they were major parts of the sucess that the program has had, lets just sell the NC trophys while were at it ehh.

Those are pretty common items aren't they?  Those are all in Husker Authentic and the Bookstore?
So why the need to make a big seperate deal about it?
It's a fund raiser for the Husker Nation Championship Drive. It's not like he is selling the Heisman trophies, they are football helmets autographed by Heisman winners and a replica Bob Brown jersey. Did you even read what you posted? I'd like to think someone who thinks he is so well informed would at least realize what he posts on this board

So the money should go to the players, not the university.

Crap you could buy those Crouch things on ecrouch.com last year. It is not like these are anything major.

"What are you going to do today Napoleon?"

"Whatever I feel like. GOSH!!!!!!!!"

Players sign this stuff for free for donation to these auctions, as support for their alma mater. Have you ever heard of a fund raiser before? I don't see the complexity of this situation.
