Pelini third on rookie coach list
Come to think of it, that Bo Pelini guy did do a decent job in 2008.

Good enough to land him at No. 3 in Richard Cirminiello of Collegefootballnews.com's 2008 ranking of rookie head coaches.

Eighteen head coaches made their debuts at campuses across the country in 2008.

Regarding Pelini, Cirminiello wrote: "Nebraska is all about the championships. And while the Huskers didn’t win one in 2008, they took a firm step in that direction by capping a nine-win season with a come-from-behind Gator Bowl defeat of Clemson. Call it the foundation on which future teams will be built. Without a preponderance of top-tier talent, Pelini shook off a three-game, mid-season losing streak to lead Nebraska to a nifty 6-1 finish. That momentum plus the experience of being a head coach for the first time is capable of propelling Pelini to new heights in a suddenly wide-open Big 12 North."
:clap In my view...he is #1 on the list...couldn't of expected much better from him after taking over the mess BC left at Nebraska.

who else was ahead of him? By rookie I guess it means at that school not in general... Paul Johnson was ahead of him I'm sure... but who else?

Houston Nutt and Paul Johnson. By "rookie coach" I was thinking they'd be talking about a coach in the first year of his first gig, not an experienced coach going to a new school. A guy in the NFL that gets traded to a new team isn't eligible for rookie of the year. I've never been that impressed with collegefootballnews.com.

He's not a true rookie. He did lead us to an Alamo bowl victory. IMO he should be #1. Why you ask? Because I'm biased and I like NU. Nuff said.

Well if we view it from the standpoint of first time head coaches, Bo is #1! Since the other 2 have had gigs elsewhere.

All the top 3 were 9-4 I believe. I think since NU has higher expectations than GTech and Ole Miss then it may have been the reason for putting Bo at #3

Both GT and Ole' Miss were in similair sh!t storms as NU, I think Bo is ranked about right. Whether ranked 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, I am so glad Callafraud is gone.

Long Live Bo!!!!!

Did that writer say/write 'nifty'? Who says nifty? Never the less I am thrilled we have Bo. GO BIG RED!!

I think it's fair. All three did a great job in their first year. I bet Bo has the best second season though :)
