Penn State Scandal Thread

For some reason I just can't shake the feeling that this punishment will kind of make people go "Ehh", I think it will be less than people think.

Also, I feel that PSU rushed to get this done and gave the NCAA this "punishment power" to STOP the NCAA from digging more, taking its time, doing a year long investigation and finding out wayyyyyy more. Just a hunch on both things.

Of course,my hunches are usually totally wrong.

I love conspiracy theories and the fact this happened so quickly and with legal matters involving the the main PSU administration are still pending do you think the powers at the NCAA have something against PSU? Did PSU piss them off at some point? Are they out to get the B1G? I know Emmert was at Auburn. The B1G is the SEC's biggest competiton dollars wise. Is there a greater conspiracy involving the SEC? How could a conference that invented and perfected cheating have no issues in the last 5 years? Cam Newton swept under the rug, SCar gets slap on wrist and goes away quietly, Tenn same. The SEC's biggest competitors have been slammed recently - USC, B1G (OSU, PSU).

I agree, Penn State agreed to the punishment. If this was a stiff penalty then they wouldn't have agreed.

Okay, maybe I was wrong, the punishment is pretty hard.

Once again, my hunch is wrong

60 million dollar fine

no bowl games for 4 years

25 scholarships down to 15 for four years

60 million fine to support programs

banned from bowl games for 4 years

25 to 15 scholarships for 4 years

Any incoming recruits can transfer instantly

Vacate all wins from 1998 to 2011

5 year probation to work with integrity monitor

NCAA to investigate individuals for further sanctions

Can someone help me out with the scholarship loss? Are they only allowed to take 15 scholarship players each year for the next 4 years, instead of up to 25?

Well. That makes for one extra win on the schedule each year for the next several years.

I didn't believe they'd allow all current players and signed recruits the ability to leave without penalty and play immediately. Let the feeding frenzy begin.

I know. . . Maybe SEC is just good not sending emails or leaving paper trails.
