Phil Steele's College Football Preview

I guess I have no life outside of Husker football, so I just sit and talk about football all day. I had been looking for a Husker board for a while, and finally found thihs one, and it's awesome. :restore

do you have a job ttheKid1*18??...  ....im just playin

 i don't have a job either, i'm a poor college student. my wife's the money maker for now, cuz we made an agreement, one will work while the other goes to school, just happens that i went to school first.

my sister goes to north, she'll be a soph. and my other a junior. we live real close to the school too.

realisticaly i don't see NU getting into a bowl if we have one loss and ND has 2-3, which sucks cuz ND hasn't proved itself that much aside from the USC game.

**edit** i meant BCS bowl

:thumbs Nice job becoming the college student first. More time to talk Husker football

I'll be a senior this year there, I'm pretty excited. All these workout things I'm hearing about Niles Paul is great, and the Big Red will be good to get him.

It's pretty frusturating the East Coast bias towards ND, because this team will be good, but if Notre Dame is up there too, they will get the vote since they are, well Notre Dame. We have nothing to prove because even if we prove we are great, no one will acknowledge it.

I think some are forgetting about two teams in the south that may have something to say about the Big 12 championship. Seems like OU and Texas Tech have a chance of beating Texas this year, you may want to revise your thinking until the south is done.

Most feel Oklahoma will beat Texas this year. Tech feels they will beat Oklahoma again and win the South.

Their goal two years ago was to beat Nebraska. Last year it was Oklahoma and this year to win the South. They have done pretty well with setting goals and accomplishing them. Sorry I follow them as my second team. I would like to see them in the Championship.

But I agree if we beat Texas and SC we are back.

Tech is on the way up, but how will they do this year with a freshman QB is the question I am wondering about. Personally I don't think they will struggle a lot. They have an easy schedule non-conference, so they should get the kinks out early before Big XII play. They do have a shot though.

Big XII South in my eyes:

1. OU

2. Tech

3. TexaSucks

The kid is a redshirt Freshman/Soph. I can not remember his name, but most wanted him starting last year. He is the highest rated QB they have ever had. He injured his ankle last year stepping on a tennis ball. Never got the kinks out. I went to the California/Tech Holiday bowl and set in the alumni section and that is all they could talk about. Most are really excited about him. They also have another Freshman QB that was the top rated Texas QB. They will miss their little running back though. That kid made the offense go when it started to sputter. Need to get back to their site. I lost it for some reason. Bunch of good fans down there. Really enjoyed the pre game and after game two years ago. Most were truly amazed by the slaugher, but I figured it could happen.

The QB you're talking about is a redshirt freshman. His name is Chris Todd, and he was a 3-star coming out of Kentucky in '05. They also got a 3-star last year, so they will have som talent at the position.

But you're right about Taurien Henderson. Average fans thought all they did was pass, but I'm pretty sure he was a 1000 yard running back, and he was a good receiving threat.

Henderson broke the career reception record for running backs last year. He did just about everything in that offense. Tech is going to be really good next year. They have Hicks, Filani, Amendola, and Johnson back as starting recievers. Plus any quarterback can thrive in that offense. Their defense is getting better but their secondary may take a step back due to the loss of Slay and Meeks as safeties.

They might struggle a little bit early. They have some cupcakes before they travel to TCU, which as many of you know, beat OU last year, so that will be tough. Their Big XII schedule includes road games with Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. They do get Texas at home, the week after UT plays the Huskers, so they could get them. This could be a good team, but I see 3-4 losses for the team.

Thanks for the update Gamecocks.

I went to the game in Lubbock and really just fell in love with their fans. It reminded me so much of how Nebraska used to be.

I have not followed as closely this year on anything due to commitments at work.

I seem to remember a different name for the Tech QB this year. Could be wrong though.
