Physical Freaks of the Fall

Klotz for Hire

Three-Star Recruit
Hey folks. It's been a while again. At the spring game last week, I noticed much more bulk on some players, more speed attributed to others. We have some amazing physical "freaks" on this team that will be running through the opposition come fall. I wanted you guys' thoughts on who is the utmost physical freak on either unit and your evidence. Here's who gets my vote and why:

Offense- Cody Glenn- Everyone knew when he came in this fall that he was a man-child. This guy is just as big this year, but more "cut." The dude doesn't go down. IMO his key run this spring was when he broke a delay draw off right guard and juked a couple guys before biatching this guy at the sideline.

Defense- Barry Turner- This manimal is one of the most disruptive pass rushers that I've seen in person since Wistrom. He's got game speed like Demorrio, with the mean streak of the Peter brothers. This guy is so quick coming off the end that he may inadvertantly decapitate a quarterback. Hopefully he will become an every down player this year, even with Jay Moore and Carriker.

are you serious?

if this like is like one of unholy Peters, then he's gonna be *real* fun to watch.

anyone have video of him?

Barry Turner is very much a freak out there but I don't know how Steve Octavien isnt the biggest freak we have. He has so much speed and he hits hard every tackle, not just a ocasional huge hit but every play he hits hard and he will hurt a few people this year unless he gets hurt himself.

mho....

Offense - Zach Taylor and Cody Glenn, Zack- the amount of punishment he can withstand, and Glenn is a train..not your normal train but a bullet train.

Defense - Steve Octavien for his playmaking ability and overall talent would be a nice choice, however Adam Carriker is still on the unit..so i'll have to pick him. you can't ignore 295 lbs, and a 4.7, good god i feel sorry for the opposing team.

According to Damon Benning earlier this week on 1620 he said Grixby is the most amazing athlete on the defense. Bowman is supposed to be in awesome shape. Stewart Bradley might as well put the bolts back on his neck and I've seen him put some great hits on people. With Turner, Octavian, and Carriker leading this "freak squad" the opposing offenses might redub them the Black-and-Blue Shirts!

Ummm.... argue all you want, but when you have a 295 lb defensive end who is faster than your middle linebacker, its pretty obvious who is number one on defense.... no one else even holds a candle up to Carriker.... offense would probably go to.... either Matt Herian, or Mo Purify if the numbers are true... 6'4'' with a 43 inch vert and a 4.49 electronically timed forty vs. 6'5'', 240 lb 4.4 second legit football speed....

have you seen videos of Purify? He is amazing. Big fast body and he knows how to use it to his adavantage

Did Herian put up that 40 time since returning from injury?

Purify hasn't even played a down for Nebraska yet. As of now he is all hype until he shows it on the field.
not only that, he isn't qualified yet. I am almost positive he will make it here. But i thought spain would have made it last year. If we are including incoming recruits you would have to think Kenny Wilson will be a beast. He is huge and fast.

Defense is tough.... Carriker is probably the bigger freak, but Steve-O will have a few more opportunities to show his freakishness. Toss UP

Offense is tough, cuz there is no clear cut leader in certain positions, but i bet Cody Glenn is going to be a stud.

i know i know..... i didn't stray to far from the norm...but its tough to argue with those choices ;)

On Offense:

I like Zac cause he can take a hit and deliver the Zip...this year his line will treat him better and that will lead to more Air Strikes that will be shock and awe on our opponents.

Defense:

I like Steve-O the best but I am really excited about the front 7 destroying O-Lines with tenacity...I think Steve-o will get more attention than Beast at DE cause he will be flying to the endzone early and often with the enemy's pigskin :box

Guess I didn't mention the offense. Glenn is going to being a train coming out of the backfield smashing everyone in his path. Taylor proved he is a gladiator last year and this year I hope he gets to show off his markmanship skills. Slauson his a beast on the O-line and Carriker is helping making him that much better going up against him daily in practice. Time to mix intoduce the world to Smashmouth WCO.

Wow guys, the title of this is physical freak, not best football player. Zac Taylor is a great player, but 4.9 speed and unimpressive lifting numbers dont qualify him as a freak. Mo purify has not played a single down, yet if his reported numbers are true, than he would certainly classify as a physical freak, whether he has played a down or not.

I thought the fastest 40 time in the history of 40 times was 4.38 by Ben Johnson, so isn't a 4.40 impossible? :sarcasm
